Mandy’s July Creations

Happy CHA everyone!
Mandy popping in from Australia to say Hello and share a couple of my newest creations.

glimmer mist for cards australia mandy collinsStarting off with a card full of sunshine and smiles, misted with pretty Lemon Zest, Crushed Shells and SWAK and accented with a little Tuttu Pink Glam, a bright and cheerful combination.

glimmer mist card making australiaLove layering mist colors across each other to see how they blend.
altered clock australia tattered angels mandy collins
Lots of folks altered clocks a while back and that was fun but recently I saw a personalized clock in a fancy boutique with a very fancy price tag to match, thought hmmm, I have seen that lighthouse and very similar sandcastle and quickly ran home to whip one up.
altered clock tattered angels mandy collinsGlimmer chips are perfect for altered clocks, they are slim enough to fit but with the addition of some bright colors can really make a statement. The only clock I could find had a black plastic frame that really did not look beachy enough. The frame got a rustic make over with a little plain acrylic paint and just before the paint set, misted spots with denim blue and dragged it though for a weathered look.

Altered books are a favorite of mine and a good excuse to play with new color combinations from the summer range starting with water slide and hula hoop on the background.
The tailored tag was misted with crushed shells and tutti fruitti with a touch of tutu pink glaze on the mistable die cut and finished with squirt of old lace.

Experimented with stamping using a dragon fly mist mat and hay ride glam to create a raised shadow that I stamped into. I added more textures using the hula hoop mist to color up texture paste streaked onto the bottom of the page with a little fan brush for grass.

Sharing new creations with you makes my day, feel free to ask questions or for more details.

Mandy’s June Pink Paisley

When the Pink Paisley parcel arrived down under it really brightened my day with all those fun colour combinations.

beach australia glimmer mist

My first project this month was to frame up a positive affirmation with a beach theme. Pink Paisley’s Picket Fence, Imagine and Flower Garden have such a lovely texture style print.  Tattered Angels Seaside collection is a fabulous stamp set to complete the theme, combined with Heidi’s Irresistible Alphabets a fun and colourful page.

June is the month when many of us need to be organising little gifts and cards. I created this card from Pink Paisley’s Honey Comb and Think Big papers and a rumpled dictionary page.  Topping them off with prima flowers and a Tattered Angels Butterfly Framed Font, popping out the center to frame up dictionary words.
Glimmer Mists: Key Lime Pie and Turquoise

A little carry bag style folder is a quick way of wrapping a photo cd or gift card with a fun combination with Tattered Travellers Glimmer Chips.  Pink Paisley paper Trellis is a pretty shade of blue houndstooth that made me think of travelling through Europe.
Glimmer Glaze:  Champagne, Cowboy and Orange Crush.

Thank you to everyone that commented on the altered book projects. This page has Pink Paisley’s Worker Bee as the background paper. First I misted the paper in shades of Sunshine and Crushed Shells before using Queen Bee rub on as an accent. Everyone has be saying how great these Artisan Frames are, being flexible you will be able to stick them every where and the amount of details in the frames makes it all the more fun to decorate.

Mistified Down Under

Hello everyone from Mandy popping in to say I count myself lucky to have been able to attend the Mistified event a few weeks ago. Getting to see Wendy and Heidi up close playing with the product and lots of tips was great value. Can recommend when the Glimmer Mist show is in town it will be something you want to see for yourself.

One of the workshop test drive pages used lace as a mist mat and shows an example of what Wendy and Heidi talked about working in layers. The more layers of glimmer you add the better it gets. Here I have been very simple with marshmallow base, misted with a little key lime, stamped part of the notes from the garden and finished with a framed font.

mandy collins glimmer mist 101

Loved the results so much I had to try it again, marshmallow background, this time with SWAKpink. Misted over the lace and timeless romance mist mat. Then, silly me dropped the stamp and left a big blue speck of ink, at first I thought I’ve ruined the page but then I remembered Wendy saying, if you don’t like it add another layer. She was right, all the more cuter now with the addition of an irresistible rose chip.

May is the month Tattered Angels is celebrating My Little Shoe box and their sweet range of papers. I whipped up a little card using Heidi Swapp mask, SWAKpink and that lace again and frosted the cupcakes off with a little dazzling diamonds mist.

For a cooking themed page I used blocks of printed paper for hidden journaling that gave me more space to play with the accents, including a framed font, irresistible foil chip SWAKpink and notes from the garden stamp.

Still working on my Paris themed altered book, stamps from Tattered Travels and Timeless Romance keep finding their way into pages. A perfect blend for Paris, romance and travel. Am off to play now with some new postcards that have arrived and just itching for a bit of that glimmer magic.

Mandy’s April Creations

G’day from Mandy down under in Australia, this month Tattered Angels is celebrating Prima.   Have you been playing with the new Heidi Swapp Stencils?  In this month’s post I have used them a fair bit in different ways as a stencil to trace around, masking backgrounds and so much more.

glimmer mist stamps mandy collins

One of the things I enjoy about glimmer mist is that I can blend a batch of embellishments and papers into colour scheme that works together.

glimmer mist australia mandy collins

After a road trip around the countryside over the Easter long weekend there is a huge collection beautiful photos full of the local color to scrap. Here I have used a cardstock base and stamped the Notes from the Garden big clear stamparound the photo to create a background.  See the stencil shape used to trim up parts of a map to create journaling tags.

Mismatched bits of maps, postage stamps and flower accents were easily blended with a touch of Sunflower glimmer mist. This is one of my favourite colours, one layer is a nice golden tone but if you come back on a second swipe, it will catch the edges with a deeper brown/orange tone that suits a late season sunflower.   tattered angels card collection mandy collins

April and May is a busy time for many of us, Mother’s Day, Weddings, Graduations and Vacations, so many reasons for card making and a new way to use Heidi Swapp stencils. At first the frame caught my eye because it reminded me of a road sign to make a travel themed card but as you can see, it kind of took off from there.   tatted angels travel stamp mandy collins

Travel theme using timeless travel chips, compass mist mat &stamp, postage stamp from romance series of stamps and meadow green glimmer mist.

tattered angels floral mandy collins

Then I took a floral theme using the Garden Romance stamp again and cosmos and one of Heidi’s new tags. Really having fun with the tags, pre printed, embossed, gold foil all kinds of finishes that with a quick splash of colour add a very classy embellishment in no time at all.  Pink bubble gum glimmer mist is a lovely fresh color, that I painted on plain white flowers to blend in with the theme.

And as always, lets not forget the back side and signing off your creations, stamps from the Timeless Romance range are perfect for a signature block.

You know I love my altered books and started showing you some pages from a new book on the theme of gardens and seasons last month.  Here are a couple more pages using that Heidi Swapp stencil again and with glimmer mists of electric blue and green clover.

Pretty windblown petals is another page using pretty shades of pink, complete with the Tattered Traveller compass and glimmering bug on a base of green clover.

A quick little cheer up card made for friends.  A timeless romance calling card became a cute laundry item with a quick rinse and splash with electric blue and painting in the roses pink cosmos while the paper was still wet to look like the laundry has run.  Background is embossed canvas with denim blue glimmer mist.

That’s it for me for now, but hope to see some of you at the Australian Mistified events over the next few weeks adding a touch of glimmer to the scrapping world down under.

Celebrations

Hello from Mandy in Australia.    Easter is just around the corner and many friends are celebrating the arrival of Spring. All great reasons to want to play with colourful glimmer mist combinations.

Altered books and art journals are my favourite creative projects because they have few boundaries other than having fun. I like to consider it doing my bit to recycle as well when giving an old book a new way to shine.

Fancy Pants products are being used by our design team this month and got to say the Fancy Pants rub ons are a delight to work with.

glimmer mist mandy collins altered book

Fancy Pants pretty printed papers are the background to ‘Inchies” decorated with a variety of stamps from the Tattered Angels range, Timeless Traveller, Romance and Nature. Can you pick all the different ones?  Got to love the size of the Tattered Angels stamps, great for all over large scale stamping but they have lots of little details to pick out and use in another way.  The big swirls (next to the bird) are from the tail of the owl stamp in the Nature series.

Frame is from the Regal Fonts and cute little bird is part of Heidi’s new collection of pre printed and embossed trims. Click on the images to enlarge and get a closer look, Fancy Pants Rubs are the perfect finishing touch of lots with lots of pretty colourful details without the bulk.Mandy Collins Fairies Altered Art Glimmer Mist Another page from the altered book celebrating nature complete with a spring fairy. She’s taken a shower in dazzling diamonds glimmer mist that makes it hard to capture in a photo but you can see the how the background is a blend of waterslide and sweet clover that blended beautifully simply by spraying from either end across the timeless romance mat.

A little peek for next month of the cover for our altered book using Fancy Pants and a embossed nature chip tile, be sure to come back again to check our progress as the project evolves.

Lots of us became card makers as it is a great way to use up ends of papers and trims that are all over our workspace at the end of a project. We already know they match and work together so might as well as create a tag or card all ready for your next occasion. Fancy Pants papers are so pretty and used them as the back ground to mist over the frame and bird mats. Part of the timeless traveller stamp set include lots of little tickets and post cards that I keep finding a million uses for.

IMG_5400When you finish off your cards, do you remember to sign them off?  We put so much effort into our creations we should finish them with our mark. If it is good enough for Hallmark, shouldn’t we do the same?  Tattered Angels Timeless Romance stamps come with a couple of little handmade and made with love stamps that work well for signing your creations.  And don’t forget those nice hard stamp mats a great for assembling your stamps to create your own design combinations, and hopefully right side up , un like me who’s just noticed one of them are upside down.

IMG_5401Oh well, its a topsy turvy world some days and being creative is supposed to be about having fun.

And a peek into a new altered book project titled “left bank” full of graphic 45 papers, timeless traveller stamps and Heidi’s  tags Tattered Trinkets  tags.

Websters Pages & Tattered Angels Fun

Hi everyone, Mandy popping in to say sorry I missed the Design Team Chat. Did everyone have fun? In this time zone it was still ‘office time’ and can assure you the meeting I was in was no where near as interesting as talking about the fun you can have with glimmer mist.

My first project for February is a 15 minute special. I was thinking of making a banner about wishes do come true with the lovely Websters Pages paper but then spotted a multi photo frame and thought this looks more finished.

tattered angels regal fonts mandy collins

And best of all, spritzing the frame, Regal  Framed Fonts and slicing the paper, took me less than 15 minutes. How cool is that ! Tick that gift of our list of things to do with plenty of time to spare.   The font frames are glimmerised with Lemongrass and Sunflower – and Sweet Clover and Waterslide with a bit of Sapphire that lifted it up to a denim finish.

For many of you waiting for Spring to finally arrive I can suggest the new Spring range of glimmer mists will be sure to brighten your day. Here I used them on a mini book gift to celebrate the change of seasons that can’t come soon enough for some of us and the joys of nature.mandy collins nature collection tattered angels

Chipboard and stamps are from the  Nature series.

Websters papers are pretty tones of pinks and greens and blues match well with my colour palette of either the Spring or Summer range of special release colors.  Loving the way the metallic gold trim on the new tag set add an extra flourish to everything .

Have gotten a lot of use out of the nature stamp set in so many projects and cards.

Tattered Angels Nature Stamp mandy collins

Have you tried recycling the paper towel or scrap paper you have been spraying and misting with ? Paper towel provides a texture for glimmering colours to cling to adding all kinds of interesting effects.  That’s what gave me this unique little finish to the back of the mini book.

Some friends asked for suggestions on how to create  masculine cards that are not all shades of brown and covered in trucks.

glimmer mist timeless travel

Our special guys deserve nice cards too so I decided to go with pretty shade of Waterslide again, and a combination of the compass from time travellers and heart from timeless romance on a time traveller chip tile of a postcard. Just love the finish you achieve with the mat, stamp combination in my little creation titled the journey to love.

Tip: personalisation is best, add postage stamps from places that are of importance or tickets from  journeys for a unique and special touch you don’t get from store bought.

Flower Journal

Mandy in Australia popping in to say how much I love the new Spring and Summer collections, Spring  Rain,  Lemongrass, Cosmos. Sweet Clover, Hula Hoop,  Flower Power, Delphinium, Tutti Fruiti.  Sunshine Waterslide and my personal favourite BUBBLES.

glimmer mist mandy collins mini book

Is it spring at your place yet?  The new colour range just shouts for joy of the seasons and inspired me to want to create a garden themed journal about special friends.  The Frosty Memories album is a great base for flower books, simply popped out the snowflake chip to use on a future project and then went a little wild with colour.

One of the best things I enjoy about Glimmer Mists is that it allows a lot of random pieces to blend together with a colour mist theme. That means we can pick up bargain bin pieces in whites or cream and with the helping tint of glimmer mist everything matches. These flowers were dressed in the fresh flavour of Tutti Fruiti.IMG_5292

A bit of texture paste was blended across the cover to make the journal just a little more earthy, with base coats of Waterslide, accented with Caribbean Blue and then maxed out the glimmer stakes with BUBBLES. Seriously, I can’t believe the fun finish you get with Bubbles.

Mandy Collins glimmer mist mini book

Dawn’s post about creating a tattoo effect was good fun. When everything is dry, I use the stencils again to outline and accent parts of the design.  Of course everyone enjoyed Heidi’s video clips showing how easy it is to pop the combs open to release pages and covers for much more glimmering action and while you have the pages out, why not add a few more in as we did here with one of the bingo cards dressed in the new Timeless Romance stencil.

Little creatures are often a guest in our garden including the geckos.  With all the new die cutting machines, the options are endless in silhouette shapes we can cut out for cards.  Have you found a use for all those blotter paper towels yet?  While misting up this card I realised, the texture was just perfect for inserting into negative spaces or backgrounds. I do like a bit of recycling and this card includes, paper towel, old tags, wire and postage stamps to suit the theme of Australia Day.

IMG_5294Giving a big shout out to the busy gals at Stamp Antics and Scrapping Outback for their Australia Day celebrations and scrapping events.

Happy Holidays

Hello from Mandy in Australia who was lucky enough to play with the Home for the Holidays kit.

home for holiday album mandy collins

Just perfect for this time of year when families and friends are travelling to spend time together for the Holidays. Glimmer Mists in Olive Vine, Brick and Carmel Apple, a Mini Album complete with a front gate and so much too choose from for all kinds of fun.

The tree embossed on the front cover was a sweet highlight. First misting with Carmel Apple and sealing with a light coat of dimensional magic really set off the branches when finishing the background in Brick Glimmer Mist.

Finding all the colours of the trims matched perfectly is a real bonus when I can be a matchy matchy kind of girl.  There are lots of pages in these mini books and I used some of them to create trims and accents, cutting out letters to spell out the story and finished the page outlining stencils.

The kit colours worked really well together enough to create opal style finishes with blended colours.  First misting with the lighter base colour and building up layers of the two accents, just yummy!

The paper trims provided lots of pretty journaling blocks to write messages perfect for the season of joining friends and family from all over to celebrate together.

Happy Thanksgiving

mandy collins tattered angels welcomeMandy signing in to wave Hello from down under Australia.

Thanksgiving is a special celebration in North America. It is a time to think of family and friends, for me that includes family and friends in Plymouth MA and my new friends here with Tattered Angels.

Thank you for welcoming me to the team.

Graphic 45’s Renaissance range is full of lovely autumn shades just perfect for seasonal creative projects. Graphic 45’s double sided Renaissance papers gave a warm flavor to this welcome wall hanging finished off with fleur de lis for a little flourish.

Renaissance Triumphant Striped cutting along the stripes and patching together for a nice long banner.

Tattered Angels leaf shape from Nature Graceful Journey collection and Fleur de Lis and swirl from Regal collection.

Glimmer mists: To achieve mottled shades, I layered lots of different colors. Lemon Zest on raw chipboard letters to take the edge off.

All the chipboard has a mix of Sunflower and Tiger Lily with a touch of Suede to bring a brown crunchy edge.

Details: Graphic 45 Venetian Lace lettering makes an easy choice for letter blocks glammed up with a splash of Glimmer Mist candlelight.  Graphic 45’s Awakening is a pretty background print for seasonal projects but I had run out of cardstock to carry off the color scheme – until I saw that Glimmer Mist Olive Vine matched perfectly trimming off a plain white card to be just the little more sparkly.  A quick mist of Iridescent Gold sealed all the layers.

In this part of the world, today is just another day on the calendar but the concept of giving thanks is too sweet to not want to celebrate especially in all the wonderful glimmer mist shades of . . . . . Olive, Candlelight, Peppermint Stick, Lemon Zest, Suede, Tiger Lilly and Sunflower.
