Autumn Tussy Mussy

I love making Tussy Mussies. They make such pretty home decor. I hang mine from door knobs, decorative hooks or even chair backs. Small tussy mussies can be used as holiday place cards, as well.

I created this fall themed one using some pretty patterned paper, decorative picks from the craft store, some Tattered Angels Glimmer Chips and Glimmer Mists and my Spellbinders Dies and Wizard machine.

First, I created the cone. Next, I sprayed the autumn pick with Black Cherry and Iridescent Gold sprays to have it coordinate with my paper even better.

Next, I created a little tag to add to the cone. I used my oval scalloped Spellbinder’s die.  I added a sticker and some Rouge Nature chips that had been spritzed with Harvest Orange.

Then, I made a little decoration to hang from the bottom of the cone. I used two Regal Font Frames that had been spritzed with Harvest Orange and adhered them back to back. I cut two scalloped circles with my Spellbinders dies and used foam adhesive to attach them together, laying them over the frames. Then, I embellished them with stickers and gems.

Christmas cards

I am totally in love with the Spellbinders tags die.  How fun to make a bunch of these cute little tags from all sorts of patterned paper! I was having a blast! To spotlight these tags, I decided to switch gears, and make a few Christmas cards, as Christmas card making is just around the corner…  Using the Wizard, I cut the text and polka dot tags and trimmed them with a button and vintage Santa sticker from my stash. The adorable postcard is from the Travel Bingo Boards and Calling Cards set, and was sprayed with Vanilla Breeze Glimmer Mist to add some instant age. The red frame is actually a Regal Framed Font Glimmer Chip, that was sprayed with Scarlet Glimmer Mist, then coated with a crackle medium.

Below is another vintage Christmas card. This one incorporates two of the scalloped ovals from Spellbinders nesting dies. I love how you can layer the shapes! The pair of mittens come from the Frosty Memories Embossed Glimmer Chips. I simply painted in some of the details with Glimmer Mist, then trimmed the cuffs with ribbon. Glitter makes the snowflakes on the mittens sparkle. Underneath the Merry Christmas greeting, I stamped that oval with the Classic Accents flourish stamp to add a bit more dimension…

And, one last card…again using the scallop die and an oval tag. The corner piece is from the Frosty Memories Embossed Chips as well, and sprayed with Pinecone Glimmer Mist. Love that new Fall color! These fun vintage postage stamps are from Graphic 45’s new Christmas paper line. One sheet of their paper has  A TON of them-just the perfect accent for the Spellbinder’s tags.

Using the dies from Spellbinders really made these little cards come together quickly. Check out what the Design Team over at Spellbinders is doing this month-you’ll love their projects. Faux Letter Press

I love the look of letterpressed cards and stationery. When I was thinking about my next steps  with my Glimmer Screens and Spellbinders Wizard machine, I decided to try and recreate this look. After several attempts, I figured out how to do it! And I LOVE the results.

First, spray a Glimmer Screen with Glimmer Mist. I made three cards. I used Haunted Shadow, Meadow Green and Jack O’Lantern to spray the screens.

Next, I carefully removed the screen from the scrap paper I’d sprayed it on, and layed it onto a clean paper.

Then, I carefully placed my cardstock onto the wet screen. You have to be careful not to move the paper around and cause a smear. letterp3

Finish the sandwich by adding the embossing mat and covering with the white plate. Run it through the Wizard and then peel off the Glimmer Screen. You’ll have a beautifully embossed, glimmery image that looks just like a letterpress!

It’s really hard to capture the shimmer and embossed look in a photo, but I think you can get a good idea from this shot.

Because I loved the design and colors of my embossed images, I decided on a simple card layout. I matted the images on black cardstock, sprayed some Halloween Calling Cards with Glimmer Mist (Indian Corn, Bronze and Lime Twist) and adhered them with foam adhesive. A few gems added just the right touch of bling.

And here’s a look at the set.

So, I hope you’ll give this fun technique a try! I’m sure you’ll agree that pairing Glimmer Mists, Glimmer Screens and the Spellbinders Wizard can produce some really great effects. Thanks for stopping by. ~Anabelle

Spooky Gift Bag

As you know, this month we are having our Spellbinders Blog Relay. We are using our Glimmer Screens and running them through our Wizard machines to come up with some great effects!

I decided that I wanted to use the garden gate screen for today’s project. I ran it through the machine, cut it out and lightly brushed it with some black ink.

Next, I got out my colored pencils and colored the images on the Bingo card. I spritzed it, along with the calling card, with Jack O’Lantern, Harvest Orange and Jack-O-Lantern Glimmer Mists. I added some glitter to the Halloween Checklist.

Finally. I layered them all together with some patterned paepr and crystal swirls to create this Spooky Gift Bag.

I finished with some ribbon on the handle and a little die cut tag. Now, all I have to do is decide who will get it!

Glimmer Screens / Wizard .. embossing

I have been like a little kid with a new toy since I gave this a try!  I heard it was possible to emboss using Tattered Angels Glimmer Screensand your Wizard machine from Spellbinders.  I had to give it a whirl.  Well.. lets just say.. it’s my new FAVORITE technique!  I’m obsessed! lol

I had a piece of copper sheeting in my supply closet that I was dying to try this on.   check it out!   Isnt that a gorgeous look?  I cut it out and added it to the top of this little wooden box  that I had previously Glimmer Misted.   ( so much easier to Mist on wood , rather  than to paint and looks so much prettier)

Here is a video on the Spellbinders site, showing you how to use stencils for embossing with the wizard.  The Glimmer Screens can be used in the same way.

After it was embossed, I sprayed  it with Suede Glimmer Mist (let it dry), and then coated it with Diamond Glaze . ( being carefull not to wipe away the Glimmer Mist)

Here is a peek at the inside of the box.

Like I said .. I had so much fun with this technique. I have a couple more projects I’ll be sharing soon, also using embossing with Glimmer Screens.

Tattered Angels and Spellbinders… a perfect match!
