From funky to chic…

I am often asked what my style of crafting is. Unfortunately… I never have a definitive answer to that question… So I have come to the conclusion that maybe I don’t have to have just ONE specific style, perhaps I could dabble in a few different ones. I do tend to lean more towards using mediums and making things look a little “Rock and Roll” (as seen in my Clip it up post on the 11th) but sometimes I like to go a little softer too. I mean, seriously… do we ever stick to just one thing? As humans I thing we tend to love having options, lol and so for crafting…I embrace the many wonderful options of style that are out there.

Today I am sharing two fun projects that reflect two totally different styles, but yet still are “me” projects.

SMILE Altered Camera Bag

With this blank camera bag I found a wonderful canvas just waiting to be embraced. I used Glimmer Mist (cherry limeade, turquoise blue, lime twist, dreamsicle and wheatfields) and Glimmer Glam (Mermaid and Chandelier) to hand paint the canvas.

This rose started off white… but of course… nothing is safe from being colored by me!

Here is a shot and some hand beading

and of course some fun sequin that I sewed in with the beading

And of course… to show a little bit of a softer side… I used the beautiful Strawberry Kisses paper from Prima to create a fun greeting card.

So I hope that you have enjoyed ALL the pictures, lol I am such a visual person so I guess I just assume that everyone else is :)

I will be posting the how to’s of these projects on my blog  next week.

A little bit of Rock and Roll…

It comes to no surprise that Tattered Angels fans LOVE the look of our vintage products… well I have a little secret… I am not quite what you would call a “vintage” type girl. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE vintage and I often do by vintage items to use in my scrapbooking, but I fell in love with Tattered Angels because of the wonderful beautiful sparkle that Glimmer Mist gave my projects. The great vintage embellishments were kind of a bonus for me :)

But when it comes to altering stuff, I tend to go for more of the art mediums to customize embellishments to my needs, again why I love Glimmer Mist so very much!

With this in mind, it is kind of a running  joke around the office that I am the “Rock N’ Roll” kind of girl. All the ladies in the office often craft in a subtle vintage style which I absolutely adore, but when you line up my projects beside theirs… chances are you will be able to pick mine out of the line up (It reminds me of “One of these things is not like the other” from Sesame Street)

So I have embraced my difference, after all wouldn’t you want to be a little different? Break the mold a bit???

Using the Clip It Up by Simply Renee to organize my Glimmer Screens and Stamps

I covered the spine of my Clip it Up with Fabric that was white and black and I Glimmer Misted with Candy Apple Red Glimmer Mist. If you do this, make sure not to glue down the bottom so that you can still go ahead and twirl your Clip it Up around. The top of the fabric stays secure due to it being held under the handle of my Clip it Up. There is no need to glue down the fabric.

And here is the totally Rockin’ base of my Clip It Up

I used a base of red acrylic paint (three individual coats for a true red color) I then layered it with Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist to make it sparkle and shine!

I used Prima “Pulse” Alphas along with Heidi Swapp’s new Gothic alphas for the title. I embellished with Prima Say it in Crystal Swirls in Black and Prima Flowers. I flanked the Prima Flowers with sequin, Heidi Swapp Crepe Ribbon and black lace.

So I may be a little bit “Rock and Roll” but is it all that bad?

Thanks for taking a peek!

Spooky Door Decor

I just LOVE the brand new Halloween Chip Tiles! These ivory based chipboard tiles are just the perfect size that you can do just about ANYTHING with them. For this project I used one as a door hanging for Halloween. I also used the Halloween Pumpkin Screen and some Halloween Bingo Board quotes too! Topped off with some fabric, cardboard, feathers and tulle and this project is just perfect to hang on the door for the holiday!

Trick or Treat, in a GREEN way!

M&M Holder upright

Here is a great way to share a sweet treat with a friend and stay environmentally conscious. This little cutie was a left over flower container that I had from some Prima flowers. I painted it and then Glimmer Misted over it to give it a nice little glimmer.  I then decorated it with some Glimmer Glass and Glimmer Chips and a cute little quote from our Holloween Bingo Boards, and Voila! It became a cute little gift for a friend or loved one. Stuff it with sweet treats and it is a gift anyone is sure to love.

Enjoy!

Distress sanding with Glimmer Mist

One of my favorite things to do with Glimmer Mist and our Glimmer Chips is to use a dark color of glimmer mist and lightly sand it once it is dried.

With this card I did just that! I used Cinder Glimmer Mist to color the outer frame of the Regal Framed Font Alphabet Chips. After the Glimmer Mist was dried, I then lightly sanded off the Glimmer mist on the raised embossed edges of the frame to expose the beautiful cream base underneath.  I just love the beautiful colors fall brings, and this card helps to capture my favorite fall colors, with some fun patterns

as well.

Projects from the road!

I just wanted to share this wonderful idea that we saw at Archivers while we were in Georgia. Traci from the  Buford, Georgia Archivers created this beautiful card for a make and take that they did in their store. She misted white flowers to match her project. This pull out card is just wonderful!

Traci found the template for this card on this site here.

Thank you Traci for sharing your wonderful inspiration with us!

cool technique using Sakura Clear Glaze Pen and GLIMMER MIST!

I have long had an obsession with my Sakura Glaze pens. I love the way they make any art work look like leaded glass or even acetate look like stained glass. My clear glaze pen gets it’s work out for sure, because the consistency of the glaze pen (after it dries) is slick and non porous, it just makes sense to use it with Glimmer Mist as a resist agent.
Sakura Clear Glaze Pen
Sakura Clear Glaze Pen

I started first by using my clear Sakura Glaze pen to create stars on my page. I used a thicker application to insure that I would have a bold outcome of stars. After it dries, it will create a barrier that will protect the background paper from any Glimmer Mist that I will spray over it. I then sprayed it with English Ivy, Jazz Blue, and a bit of Cranberry Zing Glimmer Mist.

gm_sakura

I then rubbed the excess Glimmer Mist off of the areas that I used the Sakura Glaze Pen to reveal the areas in where the Glaze Pen resisted the Glimmer Mist.

gm_sakura_2

You can see here the transfer of the resisted Glimmer Mist onto my paper towel.

gm_sakura_3

This would be a great way to add a creative  journal to a page or even some fun accents. I have also added some Sakura Star dust pens (these work great on our Glimmer Chips too!) to the final project just to add a little Glimmery detail to the stars.

I hope this finds you well and gets your creative wheels turning!

This is a 8×8 cardboard piece that I created using the brand new Family Bingo Boards set. I added some Botanica Bella Graphic 45 and some lace and chain to give this project a vintage feel. I used Sundflower, Jack O’ Lantern and Tattered Leather on the cardboard. I then used some SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L Adhesive sheets and some gold foil to add a little golden touch. the frame was created using fome sequin fabric and a paper towel that had been misted with Tattered Leather. I just love the feel of this page, it is so warm and I just love the texture to it.

"I Pick You" Garden Lattice Greeting Card- Inside

(inside shot)

So here is a Greeting Card thatI created using the brand New Garden Lattice 11×9 clear stamps that Tattered Angels will be releasing this CHA. This stamp is GORGEOUS! and of course it perfectly coordinates with the Garden Lattice Screens so you can create our Screen Print effect. For this card I stamped the Garden Lattice stamp on Graphic 45 paper and folded it over and cut out a portion of the pront. I then layered masking tape that had been misted with Glimmer Mist, some fabric and some wonderful Times Nouveau Graphic 45 paper. I played off of the cherries on the paper and title the card, “I Pick You”. The brackets were created but cutting up one of the Tattered Angels Framed Font Alpha chips (regal). The inside is teh journal stamp that is included with the Garden Lattice Stamp set that I sewed and decorated with buttons and sequin.

I hope you enjoy the new product that Tattered Angels is releasing there are so many new items, I am sure you will fall in love with them all!
