Christmas projects galore

Ti’s the Season!  It’s been so fun just working away on Christmas projects that past few weeks.  Before we know it it will be here.  I love altering, so all my projects this month were things I had on hand and had been wanting to alter.  Below is a altered project I did  using a square tin.       (The tin piece is about 1/2 inch deep).  I used Graphic 45 Christmas papers for these first two projects.  I found that “Brick” and “Forest Green” Glimmer mist colors worked really well with these papers.  The aged look was done by using “Old Lace” Glimmer mist.  A also used “Iridescent Gold” Glimmer Mist as an over all topcoat when I was finished.  I loved finishing off a project with the Embossed Chipboard Corners from Tattered Angels.   I double layered my papers , by cutting and adding foam squares between the layers for dimension.    I also added “flower flock” and glitter to the tree and to Santa’s beard.

Christmas tin hanging

I had alot of fun layering , spraying, cutting and folding on this project for sure!

The project below done with the same papers and colors.. and using one of the screens from the “Iron Works” screen set.

Christmas box and album sized

I’m going to be using this little box album set for a gift.. so my sis will be able to add her own photos.

I have also been working on my  Christmas Album kit from Tattered Angels.

One of the other things I wanted to share with you was something new I tried.  I had seen a number of cute and inexpensive poly-resin things at different craft and hobby stores ,and always wondered what Glimmer Mist would look like on them.   Well… the Christmas things have now been on sale 1/2 off, so it really tempted me to get some and give it a whirl.      I love the outcome.  It does repell the Glimmer Mist slightly.. so I found that putting it on in lighter, multipul layers, got the best results.  I love the outcome!  I decided I wanted to set mine on my cake plate..so I made a “doilie” looking piece to go underneath.

Okay… one more thing.  Liz had a tutorial posted HERE showing how to make gift tags that is so fun!

I made a number of them … that hopefully they will be able to use for ornaments next year.

I used vintage photos from Crafty Secrets in place of photos for mine.

Thanks for letting me share my Christmas Crafting.

Wishing all of you a wonderful Holiday with those you love!

Some fun with Tattered Angels and Graphic 45

I had so much fun working these to products together!  Gorgeous rich colors  of Glimmer Mist.. matched up with the beautiful patterned papers from  Graphic 45s ”Domestic Goddess” line were a dream to work with.    For this layout I used…

Glimmer Screens Decorative Corners

Glimmer Screens Iron Works

Tattered Traveler Pocket Watch Framed Fonts (Style)

Stamp- Tattered Traveler Clock

Regal Glimmer Chips (fleur-de-leis)

Glimmer Mist colors- Brick, Patina, Blue Skies, and Sandy Beach

Style layout

For my next project I chose to do a canvas. I love how Glimmer Mist takes to Canvas! It’s just beautiful!!

I like to do my canvas projects a bit differently.  I turn my canvas over and use it from the back. This creates a wood frame all they way around the edges.. which is great for covering with paper ( or Glimmer Mist)

Again.. Domestic Goddess Paper line from Graphic 45

Domestic Goddess Canvas

Here is a better view of the inside.  The Glimmer Mist takes well to the canvas and to the wood.

Domestic Goddess canvas inside

This next project started as a simple unfinished oval wood wrap around box that I found at the $ store.

I used the same paper line , with

1 of the frames from the Framed Fonts  and

Peach delight and Sunflower colors of Glimmer Mist.

Oval wood box side

This was a simple and inexpensive project to do.  It will make a nice little gift box.  I’m planning on using it to put a gift card in.

It’s been a fun month, seeing what the DT’s have been creating with these too beautiful products.

Keep watching ..there’s more to come!

Glimmer Screens / Wizard .. embossing

I have been like a little kid with a new toy since I gave this a try!  I heard it was possible to emboss using Tattered Angels Glimmer Screensand your Wizard machine from Spellbinders.  I had to give it a whirl.  Well.. lets just say.. it’s my new FAVORITE technique!  I’m obsessed! lol

I had a piece of copper sheeting in my supply closet that I was dying to try this on.   check it out!   Isnt that a gorgeous look?  I cut it out and added it to the top of this little wooden box  that I had previously Glimmer Misted.   ( so much easier to Mist on wood , rather  than to paint and looks so much prettier)

Here is a video on the Spellbinders site, showing you how to use stencils for embossing with the wizard.  The Glimmer Screens can be used in the same way.

After it was embossed, I sprayed  it with Suede Glimmer Mist (let it dry), and then coated it with Diamond Glaze . ( being carefull not to wipe away the Glimmer Mist)

Here is a peek at the inside of the box.

Like I said .. I had so much fun with this technique. I have a couple more projects I’ll be sharing soon, also using embossing with Glimmer Screens.

Tattered Angels and Spellbinders… a perfect match!

Spider Pumpkin

I love the “Vintage Halloween Hauntings” Stamps so much … I decided I was going to decorate this little pumpkin I pick up , using the spider stamp that is in this set.

spider-pumpkin

As you can see, there are lots of great stamps in this set. I’m thinking I’ll do another pumkin, using that black cat next! ( back to the store for another pumpkin) lol

halloween20hauntings

I started by using “brick” Glimmer Mist to give a more aged look to my pumpkin ( yes..the pumpkin is real).  What I did ,was spray the Glimmer Mist over the entire pumpkin, and then let it set and dry “some”. I then took a papertowel and lightly wiped away some areas. ( leaving Glimmer Mist in the lines of the pumpkin).   I then set it aside and let it dry completely.

While it was drying I worked on my spiders.  I stamped the spiders on to black cardstock , using an embossing pad.  I sprinked sliver embossing powder over the stamped image, and knocked off any excess embossing powder before heating with a heat tool.    I then cut the spiders out and added them randomly to my “dry” pumpkin using a quick drying liquid ahesive such as Beacon 3 in 1 or diamond glaze. From there, you can just add ribbons and gems to embellish if you wish.

I did also make this cratepaper and cardstock base to set it on .  Being true to my obsessive need to use “Irridesent Gold” over every finished project I seem to make….

Well..you guessed it.   Spray over everything with Irridesent Gold. ( I have too!) l0l

Thanks for coming by!

Glimmer Mist and Canvas

My thoughts are… everyone “should”  MAKE ART EVERYDAY.. how about you? lol    I LOVE working with Glimmer Mist on Canvas.  It just takes to it so well.   On this project. I started by putting down my first layer of Glimmer Mist color and drying it with my heat tool. ( making sure it was totally dry).    I then laid one of my screens down , randomly on top , and rubbed my embossing pad over it, catching all the negative areas. ( which was now in the canvas). After picking up my screen, I then took Holographic Embossing Powder  and sprinkled it over the entire  canvas..and then, tipped it over onto my clean mat.. letting the ecsess fall away.  I then heat the embossing powder.   Once that was finsihed, I added more color. to get the look I   wanted to  achieve.   I wish you could see the background in person.. it’s so much more beautiful in real life.  So much Glimmer and dimension.

make-art-everyday

Below , you can see up close the effects of the embossing powder.

make-art-everyday-texture

The letters I used for this project were a mix of all three of the Framed Fonts letter sets.

Trimmed it all with a folded paper ruffle and some vintage lace…. and THEN…… gave it all a spritz of Irridecesnt gold for a finishing touch.

It’s a fun technique.. hope you give it a try.

Have a  wonderful day!

“Bloom” layout

We are all having so much fun with these new products!   It’s hard to stop playing. lol    On this layout I used one  of the new Chip Tiles as a decorative journaling piece… and one of the new LARGE.. and ohhhh so fun..New Glimmer Screens for my background design, behind my photo.

bloom-layout

The new large screens are AMAZING!  You cant see as much of the gorgeous design on this layout, because it’s just showing around the edged of the photo..but keep watching.. you’ll be seeing alot more of them , used on projects posted here on the Blog.

CHA is going to be an exciting time for Tattered Angels with all these fantastic new products being released.   You can feel the excitment in the air!!

New Butterfly stamp

Woo Hoo!  I have always been a butterfly lover so this stamp has me just GIDDY!   It’s such a beautiful stamp anyway.. and when it’s stamped over the matching butterfly Glimmer Screen… Oooooh la la!   I’m in heaven!

I offset my stamp from the screen print just slightly ..because I love that look .. but you can easily place it right on top of your misted butterfly image.  You can use the negative or the positive of the misted butterfly.. either effect is gorgeous.

in-flight-layout

The “In flight” is also a part of this stamp .. as well as the swirls behind the butterfly. I love that they are  able to be used separatly. I used the swirls around the edges  of my saying also.

Stamped with a lighter color , they would easily make beautiful background paper.  ( See how my mind wanders?) lol

Oh..the possibilities!

Family “Bingo Boards” garland

Hey everyone.. I thought I’d share with you a project I did using the Family Bingo Cards.   There are so many fun things you can do with these!  I used all three of the cards together, buy punching holes in the top corners and hanging them as a garland.  They are fun to attach side by side, use individually and hang.. or on a layout or altered project.

You can see all three themed sets HERE     (Beach , Family and Outdoor)   Each comes with three Bingo cards, three Calling cards and three Quote swatches.   Add your own favorite colors of  Glimmer Mist  and create away!

Simple Spring Napkin Rings

Hi , It’s me Vicki!   I don’t know about you.. but I am loving thoughts of SPRING!   Here in Nebraska.. we aren’t quite there yet, but it’s getting closer.   This time of year, I find myself drawn to “Springy” colors. Light pinks, blues, greens and yellows.  There are so many beautiful Glimmer Mist colors perfectly fitting for this time of year.

I decided to make some simple napkin rings , using the butterfly  Framed Fonts

I only used two colors for this project.  I sprayed my Embossed Chipboard butterflies  with the yellow first .. let it dry a bit and then sprayed the pink on my mat, and turned the butterflies (embossed side down) onto it.   I let them set just a minute , then turned them over to dry.

Once they were completely dry… I peeled the sticky backs off them and stuck two together, back to back.

I used a bit of pink craft paint to go around the outside edge, so they are nice and tidy.

There are just so many fun projects you can do with these gorgeous embossed chipboard peices.  The great thing about these are , you have the negative and the positive of the letters that were on the inside of that oval.. to use on another project!

Hope you get a chance to give them a try!
