New Fall Colors are Irresistible…

Have you gotten any of the new fall colors yet?  I used them for most of my projects this month and I’m in love with these colors!  Sometimes the photos don’t do them justice, they are so A-MAZZZ-INGLY beautiful in person.

This is last post for this month of showcasing ir-resistible techniques (are you tired of all of our puns on the word “resist”… well, I’m the last one, so it’s almost over)   :)

My first resist project uses Vaseline for the resist. First I stamped the tag with the ledger image than sprayed it with Apple GM. After the GM was dry I coated the tag with a satin finish varnish and let that dry.  Using a stuff brush I painted the Vaseline on several areas of the tag. You could just apply it with your fingers as well. Then I painted over the entire card with Espresso Bean Glimmer Glam. After it was dry, I rubbed the card with a paper towel. The Vaseline keeps the Glimmer Glam from adhering to the tag so all of the Vaseline covered areas will be wiped clean down to the varnish layer. As you can see, you can create a really nice distressed paint look with this technique. The butterfly chipboard is from the Butterfly Framed Fonts, it has been sprayed with Wheatfield GM.

komara_TA august_4_lowres_TA

On the next tag, I stamped and embossed (white embossing powder) a compass stamp (from the Tattered Traveler Stamp Set). Then I sprayed the tag with Apple, Dragonfly, Pomegranate, and Autumn Nights GM. The embossed image resists the glimmer mist; you just need to wipe the glimmer mist off with a paper towel.

komara_TA august_6_lowres_TA

On this next tag, the resist was done using a stencil and varnish. I coated the entire tag with Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam. Once that way dry, I placed the stencil on the tag and applied the varnish (the resist medium). After the varnish was dry, I sprayed the tag with Apple, Dragonfly, and Pomegranate GM. The resisted parts are the golden colored petal shaped areas. Then I stamped and gold embossed the beehive pattern. I stamped and embossed the butterfly twice – first in gold, then in black.  The butterfly stamp is from the Nature Collection – Graceful Journey Stamp Set. The chipboard butterfly (from the Nature Glimmer Chip Collection) is sprayed with Pomegranate and Apple GM. The chipboard letters are from the Regal Framed Fonts Set, they have been sprayed with Apple and Dragonfly GM.

Just like on the previous tag, the resist on the next tag was done using a stencil and varnish. I coated the entire tag with Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam. Once that way dry, I placed the stencil on the tag and applied the varnish (the resist medium). After the varnish was dry, I sprayed the tag with Dragonfly and Pomegranate GM. The resisted parts are the golden colored areas. Then I stamped and black embossed the beehive pattern. I stamped and white embossed the flourish image (the stamp I used is actually the tree canopy from the Blossom Stamp Set – Trees). Then I stamped it again on the other side of the tag and embossed it with purple glittered embossing powder. I colored in some of the beehive cells with Emerald Cover Glimmer Glaze. The chipboard frame is sprayed with Pomegranate GM and the area within the frame is sprayed with Apple GM

komara_TA august_3_lowres_TA

On this tag I used a stencil with Glimmer Glam. I placed the stencil on the tag and applied Espresso Bean Glimmer Glam (the resist medium). After the glam was dry, I sprayed the tag with Apple, Dragonfly and Pomegranate GM. Then I stamped the swirl (from the Regal Collection Stamp Set - Classic Accents) in black solvent ink. The chipboard “U” and surrounding circle are from the Tattered Traveler Framed Font Set, they are sprayed with Apple, Dragonfly and Pomegranate GM.

komara_TA august_2_lowres_TA

On this last tag I stamped and clear embossed the ledger lines. I then sprayed the tag with Dragonfly, Apple and Sugar Maple GM. Once the GM was dry, I added letter stickers spelling “thank you” to the tag. I traced around the stickers with a permanent-ink black pen and then removed the stickers. I filled in the letter areas with a clear dimensional glaze.  Once the glaze was dry, I sprayed the letter area with Pomegranate GM. The glaze resists the GM. The chipboard owl (from the Nature Glimmer Chip Collection) was sprayed with Apple GM.

Well, that’s it for me today. Next month the design team will be focusing on Halloween and Fall Festivals. So, I’m sure you will be seeing more of these fabulous new fall colors.

BLOG UPDATED ON SEPT 1 WITH INFO BELOW:

I thought I add of few of my older projects that used a resist technique with Glimmer Mist. All of the cards below use a sort of a double emboss resist technique (heat (wet) emboss over a dry embossed image). You rub clear embossing ink onto the raised parts of the image, add clear embossing powder and heat emboss. Spray Glimmer Mist over the image and then dab/wipe the Glimmer Mist, the mist will wipe off the raised embossed portion of the image.

A Resist Medley

So many ways to do resist techniques with Tattered Angels Products – easy peasy ones and a bit more elaborate :)

Let’s start with a Card I made:

If you want to see the tutorial- hop on over to the Tattered Angels Educator Blog- I posted it there :)

For my next vacation I already started a journal which I’m going to take with me on the road. The Tattered Angels Fastenation Folder is perfect for this! I love the possibilities with it and can’t wait to fill it up!

Why not just use your calligraphy pen (well – my writing is not that great- LOL) and use the Glaze for a nice Resist.

Hope you enjoyed the Resist Medly!  See you next month :)

Tattered Angels are Irresistible

This month the team at Tattered Angels has been playing with resist techniques. It has been fun to see the many ways you can play with products to achieve different results and some of them are really easy.

When talking about resist, we usually think of adding things to the paper but sometimes it can be the paper itself that creates the resist. Tattered Angels have lots of pretreated resist products to play with nothing can be easier than that. But how about these finishes all on the same base of glossy photo paper.

mandy collins salt resist glimmer mist card
This little card has lots of layers of resist happening. That combination of gloss paper trying to resist the pools of mist and salt had the paper fighting in a couple of different directions and resulted in a 3 tone fractured mosaic perfect for a water themed background. Bit hard to photograph but I couldn’t resist the splattering a bit of Waterfall Glaze and Tide Pool Glam to mimic bubbles.

The sea horse has a Green Apple background with multiple layers of stamping.  Finished off with an Irresistible chip.

mandy collins glimmer mist ornament card
The results from the photo paper was fun so I tried it again but this time just a light spray left to dry and a second light spay that looks like an old tarnished glass ornament. Then topped it off with a heat enamel embossed trim, now that I think of it the Tattered Angels scroll stamp might have been a better fit, will try that next time.

I couldn’t stop myself, trying a high gloss result next with 3 coats of Red Velvet, it is as shiny as the duco on a sportscar.
mandy collins glimmermist music card
Liked the ornament shape and planning on making Christmas decorations and tags in the same style.
mandy collins glimmer mist ornament
Resist techniques can be really simple and fast too. For this scrapbooking page all I did was throw down chipboard and flowers to mist over.

Finally, I couldn’t resist adding an altered book into the mix, using rubons as a resist, cardboard cut outs again and a misting mat as a stamping tool with glaze.

Hope our Tattered Angels friends are enjoying all these resist techniques as much as we are.

I can’t “Resist”…..

THE NEW FALL COLORS!!! I got to play with the new Fall line this month and Oh my Tattered Angels has seriously out done themselves…..We also worked on some resist techniques.

On my Lo this month I used a Bleaching Tech.  It is very simple and a fun trick to use.  Take straight bleach You can use it with a water pen or a paint brush.  After you spray your page or before.  Use the bleach to create a resist to the Glimmer mist.  On this page I splattered bleach onto the page after I sprayed.  (Please make sure when doing this technique, you are in a well ventilated area. Colors used (Autumn Nights, Apple, Sugar Maple, and Dragonfly)

AugTa (6)On the chipboard pieces I sanded them before spraying to create different color depth.  And the title was done with Heidi Swapps line.

AugTa (5)

I made a tag for a Birthday present.  On this I used Glimmer Glam(Bordeaux) to accent the frame and the cake picture.  Adding a little touch of glitter :)

AugTa (7)Colors used (Dragonfly, Apple, Sugar Maple, Bordeaux Glimmer Glam)

AugTa (8)My last project is a multi-medium piece. I used UTEE as a resist on this one.  I first sprayed the entire dress form with Hot Chocolate Chalkboard spray. Then applied Clear UTEE on parts of the form. Then sprayed it again with Apple and Dragonfly glimmer mist. I used Ranger Black Enamel to design around the opening.

AugTa (1)The base was sprayed with Sugar Maple and also accented with Glimmer Glam-Bordeaux.  The Glimmer Glass around the opening was painted with Bordeaux as well.  The leaves are glimmer chips sprayed with Sugar Maple.

AugTa (4)Here are a couple of ways to use resist and Tattered Angels on your projects.  Hope I stirred up some inspiration.

Jamie :)

Glam….dry…sand.. mist

Hey everyone! Vicki Chrisman here. I have been having so much fun playing with Glam and Glaze on Chip Tiles, I wanted to share with you. I think every time I get these out I find something new and different that can be done with them.  I truly believe you learn so much about what can be done with them , just by playing!   The best thing is , if you try something and you arent pleased with the result.. you can , wipe, sand , or add more of something, untill you like the look.   Sometimes the thing you think is a mistake, just ends up leading you to a brand new technique you love.  Which is exactly what happened to me while making the backgrounds for these.    I wasnt getting the look I disired, so  I ended up just brushing Glam all accross the entire tile. After it was completly dry, I took my emery board and lightly sanded over the raised designs on the tile, exposing the raw tile color again.  Once that was done, a chose the color or colors of Glimmer Mist I wanted. Sprayed over the entire tile and then wiped away the excess.   You can see on the first two tiles below, this really makes the embossed design stand out.

Bird Tile

Used: Glimmer Glam (Espresso Bean), Glimmer Mist (Oriental Poppy) , Image from Crafty Secrets

Same technique used on this one.  I also brushed (Sunflower) Glimmer Glaze on the on the sunflower and (Cowboy) Glimmer Glaze in the flower centers.

This photo is definatly not really great quality.. but it’s certainly near and dear to my heart.  It’s my Great Grandparents standing in (either their garden or field) in South Dakota.  I dont have many photos of them so each one is special.

Garden Tile

Used: Glimmer Glaze (Cowboy, and Sunflower), Glimmer Mist (Sugar Maple , Apple, and Suede), Glimmer Glam (Golden Goddess)

On the tile below, you can see that I used Glaze as a resist with Glimmer Mist.  I also painted the roses on the Calling Cards with Glam ( Wicked),  and Chalkboard( Strawberry Shortcake)  . Just for fun, I splattered a little Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam on the background also.  Those gorgeous sticker letters are IR-RESIST-IBLE Alphas

Love tile

Used: Glimmer Glaze (Wicked), Glimmer Glam (Golden Goddess), and Chalkboard ( Strawberry Shortcake)

If you’d like to see more on the techiques I used on these projects, I will have step by step photos posted on the Educators blog today.

I hope this inspires you wanting to try some fun new techniques with your Tattered Angels goodies.  Remember “playing” is a learning process. (I’m giving you permission to PLAY!) lol

Have a Fantastic Day!!!

Ir-resist-ible!

Hi you all, it’s Hilde from the Netherlands again for todays blog post. We have ‘Resist’ as a theme for August. A very nice way to make your projects more eye catching.

I used Gesso on 2 of my projects, as well as the Va Va Ir-resist-ible chips. I will show you all!

My first project is a layout where I used Gesso Medium to resist. I stamped some swirls with Gesso from the Nature Field Notes Stamps. I first made sure they were all dried up after spraying Glimmer Mist on it. With the Glimmer Mist you let the stamped images lighten up.

The Glimmer Mist colors I used are Olive Vine and Wheatfields. I also used a Bingo Boards Calling Card from the Family collection. And do you see the chipboard Title Letters? They are Tattered Angels too!

1282045277NP8137724

My second layout has a kraft cardstock as a base. Can you tell? I guess not. I totally covered it with Gesso. Then I sprayed lots of Glimmer Mist on the paper. The colors I used: Olive Vine, Electric Blue, Caribbean Blue, Golden Terracotta, Coffee Shop and Sea Glass. Some of these colors were sprayed on the VaVa Victorian Ir-resist-ible chips and the Traveler Glimmer Chips.

Do you see that gorgeous blue color on the cardboard? Thats Glimmer Glam Mermaid. Nice glitter does it has!!

I masked a Glimmer Screen Garden Lattice underneath the pictures. You still can see some of the swirls. I added some black spots to highlight it.

1282045671NP8147728

1282045731NP8147729

Finally I created a card. Here I only used the VaVa Victorian ir-resist-ible chips. They are sooooo easy to use! Only spray some Glimmer Mist on them, whipe them gently with a tissue and you have a gorgeous effect.

I used Glimmer Mist colors Daffodil and Crushed Shells.

Thank you all so much for looking!

Hello !

I hope that you are having a great summer.

My first creation this month is a card. I used a bingo board and a calling card from the Traveler collection. The Glimmer Mists are : Key Lime Pie, Sunflower, Candy Apple red and Pink Bubblegum. Also an Ir-resist-ible chip, and the small round tag is a Mist-A-Ble paper element.

DSC_0193_modifié-1 [640x480]

For the second layout, I put some gesso on a Kraft paper, then I used the Pink Bubblegum Glimmer Mist with a Glimmer Screen from the Regal collection. Under the photo, I placed a Calling Card from the Seaside Collection.

DSC_0191_modifié-1 [640x480]

Then the third layout, with a white background, where I used the Pink Bubblegum Glimmer Mist, with a Glimmer Screen from the Garden collection. The calling cards are from the Regal and Timeless Romance collections. I used some Seaside Glimmer Chips, colored with Pink Bubblegum, Candy Apple Red and Sunflower Mists. And the word “adventure” is a clear stamp from the Tattered Traveler set.

Thank you for coming and visit us, have a fantastic day,

Gaëlle.

How can you resist????

Hi everyone!  This month we are talking about “resist”.  Tattered Angels has many fabulous products all ready to mist and resist with no effort…like the Ir-resist-ible products.  On these products, all you need to do is spray and wipe and the resist part, resists the ink and stands out.  Well, if you don’t have the ir-resist-ible products, there are still several ways to use the resist technique on your projects.

On my first project I stamped some images from the Field Notes stamp set.  But I stamped them using paint.  After allowing the paint to dry, you can spray Glimmer Mist on your page and then take a paper towel or wipe to get the ink off the paint.  The paint acts as a resist medium.  Here’s my layout:

B-is-for-Bugs-600

I started with a piece of Kraft cardstock.  I sprayed Glimmer Mist in the following colors: Apple, Dragonfly, and Sugar Maple.  You can also find part of a Bingo card as well as some Glimmer Chips on the layout.  :)  Here are some close up’s:

B-is-for-Bugs-close-up-600

B-is-for-Bugs-close-up-2-600

B-is-for-Bugs-close-up-3-600

B-is-for-Bugs-close-up-4-600
Another way to do the resist technique would be to stamp and emboss an image, then spray and wipe.  That is what I did on the following card:

TA-resist-card-600

On this card, I used Pomegranate, Apple and Dragonfly Glimmer Mist, the Tattered Traveler Framed Fonts, and the Graceful Journey stamp set.

And I have one more project to share with you.  It is another layout.

Safe-600

On this layout, I used Hot Chocolate Chalkboard Glimmer Mist and a Glimmer Screen from the Regal Collection on the background paper.  I also used Glimmer Glass, Apple and Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist, and a frame from the Regal Collecton’s Framed Fonts.  Here are some close up’s:

Safe-close-up-600

Safe-close-up-2-600

Safe-close-up-3-600

On this last picture you can see my resist technique on this layout.  On that chipboard flower I first dry embossed it with an embossing folder.  Then I also embossed the raised portions with clear embossing powder.  Then I sprayed Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist over it and wiped off the embossed parts.  So the Glimmer Mist is actually in the debossed portions of the chipboard.  :)

Well I hope you have enjoyed my post today!  Why don’t you share your resist techniques with us.  And don’t forget to check back to see what the rest of  the design team does!
