Artist Name: Nathalie Kalbach Country: Germany Website: http://www.scrapbook-trends.com Biography: Hello! My name is Nat Kalbach and I live in Hamburg, Germany. I’m married to a wonderful husband who actually introduced me to Scrapbooking by mentioning it as a way to highlight our wedding pictures. At daytime I work as a paralegal and at nighttime I create. My work usually is very technique driven and I include acrylic paint or spray paint on almost all of my layouts. I love to scrapbook about the everyday things in life and thoughts and feelings. This year I had and have the amazing opportunity to teach scrapbooking workshops in six different countries and I’m very passionate about teaching. Besides this I’m on the Designteam for the Canadian Manufacturer Rose Moka, ScrapTastic an American KitClub and the German Scrapbooking Print Magazine ScrapArtZine. I’m regularly published in Somerset Memories and have my own column with them called “Nathalie’s Studio”. Thank you for this wonderful honor to be the guest designer this month for one of my favorite manufacturers!
Where do you find inspiration? I find my inspiration most often on the street. I live in the second biggest city in Germany and as I have no car I walk a lot. I love looking around when on my way to work and there is a lot of street art that inspires me with its colors and provokes me with thoughts. Where do you create? Usually in my studio. I have my own room with a nice scrap area where I create standing up. Sometimes I carry my materials into our big kitchen/dining room/living room area which is one big room and sit at the dinner table so that I can be with my husband while creating. What is your favorite Glimmer Mist Color or Tattered Angels product? That is a tough question. My favorite colors of Glimmer Mist are Blue Jazz, Iridescent Gold (which is just emptied –THE HORROR!) and Key Lime Pie. But who am I kidding...I love all the colors ! What is your favorite Glimmer Mist technique? One is to sprinkle sea salt (the big chunks) on top of the freshly sprayed glimmer mist. I love how the salt soaks up some of the glimmer mist – but add a special effect. I also love to use the Glimmer Mist as a finish on almost all my layouts and canvases using it spraying through punchinella to add another layer and some glimmerization. Do you have any favorite ways to use Glimmer Chips, Glass or Screens? I love to heat emboss the Glimmer Glass to add dimension to it and therefore add dimension to the project I use it on. The screens are one of my favorite products too – I love to use it either with Glimmer Mist, but also with Spray Paint (non water based) and finally I love to trace them with markers. Where can we see more of your projects? You can see more of my projects on my blog www.scrapbook-trends.com
