Birthday Wishes with Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glaze

I love making backgrounds using Glimmer Glaze and Glimmer Mist.  I like to use crumpled wax paper to apply my Glimmer Glaze to my paper because it gives added random added texture while also resisting the Glimmer Mist.

For this card, I inked my tattered texture stamps using Versamark, and then embossed the image with white embossing powder.

I balled up a piece of wax paper, poured a very small amount of Waterfall Glimmer Glaze (be sure to shake it up first) to my misting mat, dabbed the wax paper into the glaze and then pounced the glaze onto my paper.  I applied it around the embossed image as well as the edges.

I sprayed Seafoam Glimmer Mist over the entire project.  Notice how the glimmer mist resists not only the embossed areas but also the glazed areas.  If I had applied the glaze with the brush, I would have brush stroke resist areas, but by using the balled up wax paper, the resist pattern looks more random.

To add a distress look to the edges of the paper, I sprayed a fine mist of Dragonfly Glimmer Mist to my misting mat and dragged all the edges through it, smoothing it out with my fingers.

I attached the misted paper to a card, added a postage font frame that I randomly pounced the Waterfall glaze on to using the wax paper, and then painted over the entire frame with a paint brush using Chandelier Glimmer Glam.  I added a fairy image from Crafty Secret’s Sew Nice sheet, painted Waterfall Glimmer Glaze on the fairy’s dress, and attached the image behind the frame.  I stamped “birthday wishes” on paper (and misted with Seafoam Glimmer Mist) and trimmed it to a banner and attached it to the bottom of the frame because the image was too short to cover the entire frame.

Also attached to the postage frame is a glittered wand.  I die cut a star shape from foam core, covered it with German Glass Glitter, and attached a cut paperclip to it for the wand portion.  I wrapped the wand with seam binding that I had sprayed with the Seafoam Glimmer Mist, and then cut the seam binding into narrow strips.  I also attached three heart charms with silver bullion and attached them to the wand as well.  I attached a portion of some Prima Swirls to the card and attached the frame on top.

Here’s a picture of a few other backgrounds I was playing with.  I hope you experiment using wax paper, Glimmer Glaze and Glimmer Mists for backgrounds too.  Another favorite combination of mine (pictured below) is pouncing Cowboy Glimmer Glaze on your project and spraying with Sugar Maple Glimmer Mist – and a touch of Dragonfly was added to the middle background.  It gives a nice rusty and patina look.  The Tattered Textures stamp set is a must have as well – I especially love them with black or white embossing powder.   And if that weren’t enough, I am loving Glimmer Glaze on metal as well.  They spice up charms quickly, especially ones with holes in them (although those require a little more drying time).  And speaking of metal, I even Glimmer Glazed a fork…yes, a fork.  I bent a fork to use as a stand for my card, but you’re supposed to use a “vintage” fork which I don’t have…yet…so for practice, I bent an old fork and colored it with Cowby Glimmer Glaze.

Now have fun, and go play!

Making it my way!

One of the absolute best things about Tattered Angels products is when i’m working on a project i don’t necessarily have to have items that coordinate.

I’ve been working on this cute little album and it was all coming together beautifully until BAM! an embellishment that i HAD to have for the album was the wrong color. :(

I’ve been on this mission to use what i have so i rummaged through my big delicious box of Glimmer Glam and Glimmer Glaze, I found the absolute perfect color for what i wanted to do.  So i got out my handy dandy paintbrush, my lipstick pink glimmer glam, misting mat and my sparkley photo corner.

I used a nice round brush to dip into the bottle and change the color to pink.  I chose glam because it had the extra dose of multi faceted glitter for that extra sparkle that my album needed. I painted it directly onto the photo corner.

I gave it a few minutes to dry and the sparkle really started to shine through. The drier it became the shinier it was! You know how a girl loves her sparkle!!

I painted several of these because i was having so much fun.

So rest assured….with Tattered Angels in your stash you can create just about anything to your liking!!

Peace out…enjoy the weekend

Glam and Glaze Resist

Hi all, Cheryl here with some fun resist techniques using Glimmer Glam and Glaze.  I cannot tell you how much happiness these two new mediums bring me.  There are so many ways to use them, they really add a whole new level to your paper crafting.  Today I’m going to show you a couple of ways you can use them to resist glimmer mist(I know, glimmer mist is irresistable, but I think you’ll enjoy this).

You will need to grab the following supplies:  12×12 white cardstock, two manila tags, paint brush, Coastal Breeze screen print stamps, Beach Comber Glimmer Chips, Postage Stamp Framed Fonts, Seaside Glimmer Glass, Glimmer Glam in Chandelier and Paprika, Glimmer Glaze in Champagne, Glimmer Mist in Lime Twist, Riptide, Autumn Nights, and Sand.

First we will create our background page:

Take your paint brush and paint Chandelier Glimmer Glam along the edges, and in a cross hatch pattern in center of page.  You don’t need to put it on too heavy, you want some areas to be left un-glammed so when you spray over it, it looks distressed.  After the glam is dry, spray over entire page with sand Glimmer Mist.  Wipe off page with a paper towel to reveal the resist areas.

Next you will create your tags.  Brush a small amount of Glimmer Glam in Paprika onto your craft mat.  Stamp into glam using your screen print stamp and then stamp onto tag.

After the image has dried, spray lime twist and riptide Glimmer Mist onto your craft mat and rub the side of your tag with the image into the glimmer mist(rubbing tags into glimmer mist on your mat gives you a more blended color) blot over the tag with a paper towel then add a spritz or two of autumn nights Glimmer Mist and again blot with paper towel.

Next you will take the glimmer chip shells and crab and paint with Glimmer Glaze in Champagne and let dry.

Again you will paint Paprika Glimmer Glam onto your craft mat ( I used a very thin coat) and rub your glimmer chip into the glam.  This will enhance all of the raised areas of your embossed glimmer chip and add some glitter.

I sprayed the glimmer chip letters with lime twist, riptide, and autumn nights.  I left the postage stamp frames natural to pick up the white from the resist.  I also stamped a couple of palm trees on the background page, painted the seashells on the calling card with champagne glaze, and lightly sprayed the edge of the calling card.  I used a glimmer glass piece under the main photo and I put a picture under it for a little background color.  Another wonderful feature of the glam and glaze is that you can use it as an adhesive as well.  I just brushed some chandelier glam on the underside of my glimmer glass piece and adhered it to my photo.  This is really great when you don’t want adhesive showing through under clear acrylic pieces.  To finish it off, I inked the edges of the layout with walnut ink, and your done!  It sounds like it took a long time, but really only about an hour once I gathered all of my materials.  Here are a few close ups:

Happy Glimmering!

Handmade Card: So Grateful

Sometimes you just need simple, cute cards.  Here’s one I made the other day:

To make it I took some Sticky Back Canvas and had my Cricut cut out three 1 1/2″ circles.  I then sprayed them with “Key Lime Pie” and “Pieces of Heart” Glimmer Mist so that the colors blended together in places.

After I dried them with a heat gun I stamped on them using the “Regal Classic” Screen Prints and black StazOn ink.

Then I used a punch to punch out some scalloped ovals out of dictionary paper which I then sprayed with “Crushed Shells” Glimmer Mist.

To fold the ovals into a flower-ish shape I first creased it across the center vertically.

Then I creased it again across the center horizontally.

Then apply adhesive to the back side of it and adhere it to the Sticky Back Canvas circle.

Then, I threaded a button and adhered it to the flower.

Lastly I applied them to the front of my card that I had previously sewn with my sewing machine and stamped with one of my favorite stamps.  Since the back of the Sticky Back Canvas has adhesive on it you can just remove the protective backing and stick it right on the card.

Fascination with the Heidi Swapp Fascination Folder!

I have to admit that I had seen the Fascination Folders and had NO idea what to do with them. So i did a google search hoping to find something. Nope, nada, zip!  Ok, now i have to really get inventive and see what i can do.  WOW…i had a ton of fun and truly LOVE what i made.

I used the Fascination Folders and the Fascination Folders Add on Pages, some Candy Apple Red, Tattered Leather and Walnut Gold Glimmer mist, Destination unknown Glimmer Chips, Framed Fonts – Postage, Tattered Traveler bingo boards and the Travel Stamps.

Look how wonderful all these goodies look! The fascination folders have a resist built into them. So right out of the package they are beautimus!

and of course the add-on pages

I started adding my colors of mist. Red is my favorite color, especially a really deep dark red. I let the colors set for a little bit so they would soak in to the cover.

I then took the most fabulous bottle of Chandelier Glimmer Glam (coming soon to a store near you!) and coated over the entire cover.  It gave the colors an incredible boost and added so much pretty sparkle.

I tried to capture the glitter with my camera but it didn’t work out so well. Sorry.

I added my embellishments and did a few pages on the inside and voila….my new Travel journal for my upcoming vacation.

Here are a few of the inside pages:

I hope that now you won’t wonder like i did and just jump right in.

This is also now going to be a class that i will be teaching. Its funny how that works out :)

Time to Travel

Time to Travel Class

It’s that time of year to get out and see some sights, whether it’s a road trip or a trip abroad, I have just the thing for you to record those special travel memories.  Sometimes with a busy schedule of sight seeing we forget little details when we get home and are confronted with a ton of photos and memorabilia.  You can use this little book to jot down notes while on your trip, and it has pockets to store little bits you collect along the way.  You can put the larger pieces of memorabilia into the suitcase box and display them together for a fun reminder of your trip.  All of the items I used to create both projects come in one fantabulous kit, the Tattered Traveler Chip Tile Kit.  The little suitcase is actually the box that the kit comes in.  These boxes are also great to store your Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens and Screen Print Stamps in.

I will be teaching this class at :

Laundry Day and Glimmer Mists…

Laundry – not my favorite thing to do.  But when  you combine laundry day and crafting, things start looking up!

I use generic dryer sheets, and I use them more than once.  I happened to notice that the used dryer sheets are very soft…and it made me wonder how glimmer mist would take to them.  The answer:  very nicely!

I’ve made a birthday card using two Tattered Angels tags and a dryer sheet (for a flower and a pocket).

Lightly mist a used dryer sheet, scrunch it up and soak up the excess glimmer mist on your mat.  Let the dryer sheet dry, or use your heat gun to dry it.

Tear the dryer sheet in half, and then take one half and tear it in half again.

Tie the two strips together into a knot at one end.  Attach the knotted end to the center of an adhesive covered circle (I used a 1-1/4” circle punch).  I let adhesive extend past the circle and pressed the excess adhesive to the back side of the circle.

Loosely twist and wrap the dryer sheet in a circular motion while pressing it into the adhesive.  When you reach the end, tuck the end of the dry sheet onto the adhesive as well, or attach it behind the circle on that excess adhesive.  I used the end of a paint brush to open up the center of the flower a bit more and attached a button to the center.

I lightly sprayed both Patina and Sunflower Glimmer Mists to both my tags.
I folded the top down on my larger tag and misted the back of the top half as well.

The smaller tag was placed on top of the folded section.

I trimmed the remaining half of the misted dryer sheet to size and stitched it onto the tag to serve as a pocket for a gift card, and added the dryer sheet flower.

I still had one dryer sheet left, and I couldn’t stop myself, so I made a  couple of “crepe paper” style flowers, added stamen to the centers, and attached them to another tag.  I added Clear Glimmer Glam to the top of these.

Who knew laundry day could be so fun?

Heritage Scrapbook Page

Here’s a heritage layout I did that features my Great Grandparents way back in 1929…my Great Grandma was 27 in this photo!  Both my Great Grandparents have passed on, but this layout will be a great way to remember them.

To make this layout I started off by laying down some screens and spraying the background paper with Crush Shells and Patina Glimmer Mist.

I then sprayed the Irresistible tag  and Irresistible chipboard piece with Strawberry Shortcake Chalkboard Mist.   I cut the tag in half and then inked the edges.

Next I sprayed the back side of two pieces of ribbon with Crushed Shells and Pinecone Glimmer Mist.  I love how the Glimmer Mist completely covered the back of the ribbon, but only soaked into the thinner parts of it so that when I flipped it back to the front side it looked really cool!  I wrinkled it up into a ball before letting it dry to give it an old antiqued look.

For the flowers I sprayed some of Prima’s  white paper flowers with some of the new Glimmer Mist colors: Pomegrante, Dragonfly, and Sugar Maple.  Once they were dry I stamped on them using clear embossing ink and the Tattered Textures clear stamps and then sprinkled gold embossing powder over them.  I love how it looks once the embossing powder is heated up with a heat gun!!

Once all my pieces were ready I assembled the page and used foam adhesive to raise up some of the elements to give it a bit more dimension.  I also hand stamped my journaling and added a few other embellishments.  Here’s a close up:

A little glam and some packaging

I finally got my hands on some of the YUMMIEST Glimmer Glam ever!

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to to do with it I just knew I wanted to play.

As I was working on my Beach Day album that I was creating with the Seaside Glimmer kit,  I grabbed my bottle of Hayride Glimmer Glam and painted it across a page with my wide paint brush.  I just painted all over, not in any particular pattern. I then used my Caribbean blue Glimmer mist and misted over the entire page. The glam wasn’t even dry yet :)

I love how you can see the bigger flecks of glitter AND see the beautiful sheen of the glimmer.

The glimmer glam will resist the mist and in the thin areas it will take on some of the glimmer mist color.

The glimmer glam and glimmer mist combo made a wonderful background for my picture. I added a bit of the Seaside Sea Glass for just the right touch.

The layout needed a little more something. So i started  digging through my Seaside Glimmer kit for an embellishment for the the left side of the page. I noticed the nice label that was on my glimmer kit box. (yes i saved it and tucked it neatly in the box :0)  )

I misted the center most part of the label with Coral Reef glimmer mist and trimmed the long edges to fit the page i was working on. I tucked it in alongside the left edge of my photo as a photo mat border.

I LOVE how this turned out with this page.

Now i needed to cover the wording on the front of the label. I found a fabulous glimmer chip from my box of Seaside Beach Comber embossed glimmer chips that would work perfectly for this job. I applied a little wax for some resist and then misted with Caribbean Blue Glimmer mist. I placed the chip over the words on the label packaging to hide them.

I love the way it all turned out!

So idea of the day….don’t throw away the packaging, you never know when it might come in handy!!

Hope you like this idea. Come by daily for lots of inspiration and fun techniques.

New Fall Colors are Here!

The new fall colors are hot, hot, hot!  I know, it’s barely summer, but these colors can be used for anything.  I created a layout with black as my background because it really makes the colors pop.  I mean, just look at them!  Gorgeous.  There is Granite, Sugar Maple, Apple, Pomegranate, Dragonfly, and Autumn Nights.  Photos really don’t do these colors justice, and the shimmer!  You must see them in person.  They should be hitting your local LSS any day now.  So here is my layout:

Supplies used:  Black 12×12 cardstock, white cardstock for photo mats, index card, cheesecloth, Tattered Angels Screen Print stamp – classic accents swirl, dragonfly and leaf from Graceful Journey set, Glimmer Mist in Apple, Dragonfly, Pomegranite, Sugar Maple, and Autumn Nights.  I also used copper embossing powder.

I randomly sprayed Apple and Dragonfly glimmer mist onto white cardstock and stamped the dragonfly image.  I then cut out the image.

I used the same technique for the leaf images using Apple and Sugar Maple.  I then ran the cheesecloth through the overspray on my mat to color it.  I stamped the swirl image onto the cardstock with Versamark ink and then used copper embossing powder on it.  For the mats behind the photos I simply sprayed each piece of white cardstock with the glimmer mist then turned it over and rubbed it into my mat to give it full saturated color.  Arrange your elements on your layout, add your title and journaling and your done!  Here are a few close up shots so you can see that gorgeous color.

Have a glimmery day!
