Tattered Jewelry

Today I wanted to share some jewelry I made using the full range of mixed media colorants from Tattered Angels.

First I made a pendant.  I started with a frosted piece of acrylic, pre-drilled with a hole in the top.

I coated this piece with a thin layer of Glimmer Glam, in a turquoise color.  When the Glam was tacky to the touch, I placed a piece of transfer foil over the top and burnished it lightly.   This is the package of foil leafing I used.

This transferred some of the copper foiling to the edges in a rough pattern.  The combination of foil leaf and Glam is stunning!  I coated the back of the frosted piece with a contrasting color of Glam (Luscious Lavender).  Isn’t the depth amazing using all these mediums together?

I decided to attach some Glimmer Glass butterfly wings to the edges.   First, I drizzled some contrasting colors of Glimmer Glaze onto the surface, loosely following the patterns on the wings.

Once this was dry, I topped it off with a light coating of Glimmer Glam in Luscious Lavender.

I used the Artisan Elements-Swirls from Pink Paislee as antennae.  These were spritzed with a bit of Creme de Rouge and Turquoise Glimmer Mist and just a touch of Glimmer Glam in Turquoise.  I attached these with Fabritac adhesive to the frosted acrylic.

I attached the wings together with a small metal tab in the back and then adhered the frosted acrylic piece over the top.  A jump ring is inserted and threaded onto a leather cord.

I love this butterfly pendant!

Next, I chose to make a pin.  Using a domino as a base, I cut down a piece of the Artisan Elements-Swirls from Pink Paislee and fit the domino onto the self-adhsive backing.   I placed a self-adhesive pin-back to the surface.

I used Stazon ink to stamp the Eiffel Tower stamp image from the Timeless Romance Screen Prints stamp set onto the elements.  I then coated the raised surface of the design with Glimmer Glaze in the brown, Cowboy color.

I went over the focal point of the stamped image with a light coat of Glimmer Glaze in Icicle (clear).  It added a lovely sparkle to the background, and protects the stamped image.

I then brushed in Glimmer Glam in Luscious Lavender into the side ‘gutters’ and onto the areas not covered in brown.  You can see the chunky glitter faintly in this picture.  Just wait till it dries!

I have just one more thing I wanted to do to the frame.  I added turquoise Glimmer Glaze to the top and bottom of the stamp frame, at random places on the swirl designs and then sprayed a light coat of Creme de Rouge Glimmer Mist over the top.

I then coated a silver antique key with the turquoise and brown Glimmer Glaze and hung it from the bottom, piercing a hole in the elements and attaching it to a jump ring.

As a final touch, I overlayed the stamped design with a copper Eiffel Tower charm, adhered to the surface with Fabritac.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my Tattered Jewelry post today. Remember, with the full range of colorants from Tattered Angels – No Surface Is Safe from being inked and altered.
