recycled instax frame

Aloha, Joscie rhymes with bossy checking in again!  Thanks for joining me on yet another recycled project!  Maybe it is a factor of my lets-keep-that-I-might-be-able-to-make-something-out-of-it-itis, but anyway, here it is.  I recently got a fuji instax camera, a cute little polaroid inspired camera that spits out these super cute credit card sized prints.   After you shoot the ten shots in the film pack, you are left with a little black plastic case.  I think I have seen a polaroid film case altered a long time ago, but when I tried to look for it to credit the idea, I couldn’t find it, sorry.

I love the look of textured white cardstock with my glimmer mist, it creates such a beautiful contrast with the use of masks, and the texture adds to the depth of the misted area.  I started out by laying the empty case on the backside of a piece of white textured cardstock.  I traced around the edges and estimated how much to cut off, as if I were wrapping a present.

I scored the fold lines and used an edge punch to embellish the top edge.

I used a Glimmer Screen – Fanciful Screens and silver sugar glimmer mist on the textured side of the cardstock.

I used my heat tool to speed drying. I then applied adhesive to the case and folded the textured cardstock over the case.

I added a strip of silver and white Japanese Masking tape to the lower front part of the frame.  Then I misted this prima flower, also in silver sugar glimmer mist.  After it dried, I used a foam square to mount it to the front of the frame.

This is the back of the frame:

I inserted an instax picture back into the frame through the slot where it comes out of the camera. You could easily use a regular picture trimmed to size.

I also added a few adhesive crystals to the small scallops on the frame.

It is easy to switch out pictures :)

Thanks again, I hope you enjoyed this idea! :)
