create a recycled glimmery flower and card
When I opened a letter the other day, I caught a glimpse of the beautiful gray pattern in this security envelope. The first thing that came to mind was, I bet that would make some cute flowers. I took the envelope apart carefully and punched as many shapes as I could. And I love that since you’re crafty you probably don’t think I’m weird for doing this, right?
Here is the first scalloped circle:
I misted them with Sunflower.
I dried them with my heat tool and crunched up a few of them.
To construct the flower, i put one circle on my piercing mat.
I inserted a second layer, just rotated a little bit.
then I lay a crumpled layer on top.
then i put one more crumpled layer on top.
I selected a complimentary button and placed it on top of 4 layers.
Using my piercing tool I made holes to correspond with the button holes.
I used a tapestry needle to thread some bakers twine through the button and all layers of the flower.
I tied a bow and voila, a recycled flower!
I wanted to use this flower on a card for a friend of mine, so i also needed to create a card background. I am quite in love with turquoise skies and white clouds, so this is what I went with.
I cut a piece of watercolor paper in a square. Using a wide brush, I brushed water over the bottom portion of the card in the shape of a hill.
Then I used meadow green glimmer mist like water color and brushed it on the water, like a wash.
then I applied water to the top portion of the paper, leaving a cloud shaped portion dry. Then I added turquoise blue glimmer mist with a brush.
at this point you could use a heat tool or a paper towel to blot it dry.
after it dried, i stitched some ric rac as a stem for the flower and used a glue dot to adhere the flower to the card back. a little stamped, punched, misted sentiment and here’s a card full of happiness for my pal
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and you don’t think I’m crazy for punching up my envelopes (wink wink).
Happy Misting and Blog you later,
Joscie, rhymes with bossy

a gal of my own heart, I’m always punching gold chocolate boxes, gift wrap, pretty cards, using the cardboard stiffeners from pkgs of hosiery, ironing ribbon from flower arrangements and potted plants when it’s time to chuck the flowers, reusing little plastic containers that hold chocolates or mints for special little spur of the moment gifts for the mailman, neighbors kids, or a friend who drops by. I fill them with all sorts of stuff like a couple of cookies, paper “fortunes” M&Ms, gummy bears whatever then do a little wrap with an appropriate saying on it. A little raffia or ribbon and I’ve a minigift!
