Hello from Singapore!

Hi Everyone! This is Susan blogging from Singapore.

This month, the Tattered Angels DT is doing a blog relay with Graphic 45, which means we get to work with some gorgeous paper from Graphic 45, one of my favourite manufacturers.

I have four projects to show you today. First up is this hanging Christmas decor using Graphic 45’s Christmas Past collection and lots of glimmer mist:

Christmas Joy

For this project, I wanted to try glimmer mist on different materials, not just paper. I picked up this little twig wreath and started off by misting it with Iridescent Gold. That gave just the right amount of subtle gold shimmer on the twigs without taking away its natural woody feel. Next up, I misted the corrugated cardboard with a happy chocolatey mix of Latte, Suede and Vanilla Breeze. And since I’d already misted on wood and paper, why not some lace? Now this was fun. The pristine white lace soon turned a lovely vintagey warm red with my liberal squirts of Burnt Red and Red Velvet.

I fell in love with the butterfly clear stamp from Tattered Angels’ Screen Prints the moment I layed my eyes on it. Here, I stamped it on some Graphic 45 patterned paper with a clear embossing ink, then heat embossed it using some Christmassy-red embossing powder. I love the texture embossing gives to stamped images. I layered the butterfly, corrugated cardboard and lace together with the gorgeous Graphic 45 patterned papers and cute little cherubs, added in some Prima poinsettia and a Glimmer Chip and my Christmas decor was done. :)

Here’s my next project, a layout with a nature theme:

Walking-Sunshine

I chose the tree and shrub screens from the Garden Blossom selection of Glimmer Screens to match my photograph. I misted these onto a cream cardstock using a mix of Key Lime Pie, Forest Green, Meadow Green and English Ivy, letting the colours run from a lighter shade on the left to the darkest shade on the right. The rich green hue of the patterned papers from Graphic 45’s Renaissance Faire worked beautifully with the photograph and the green mists.

To complete the nature theme of this layout, I used a butterfly glimmer chip and coloured it up into a rich sunburnt golden hue using Candlelight, Burnt Red and Peach Delight. I like how the little bits of red and peach peek through behind one another.

Here’s another layout I’ve created with a nature theme:

Happy-Trails

For this layout, I misted directly onto Graphic 45’s Christmas Past paper. I wanted the effect to be subtle, so I chose a complementary Olive Green mist for the green Graphic 45 Christmas Past patterned paper. The effect was just as I wanted it. You can see the beautiful image of the flourish from the Glimmer Screens, outlined in a darker shade of olive and glistening in gold in the sunlight. To define the edges of the flourish, I outlined the flourish in Rangers stickles.

I like the look of mists on corrugated cardboard, and on this layout I used a mix of Peach Delight at the top, followed by Suede in the centre and ended off with Candy Apple Red at the bottom.

I have just one more project to show you today, an Owl card:

Owl-Card

I was inspired to make this card when I saw this cute little Glimmer Chip owl from the Nature series. I misted the backing corrugated cardboard in Sunflower, Olive Vine and Golden Terracotta, and layered on some lovely patterned papers from Graphic 45’s Renaissance Faire collection. And because the owl couldn’t be left standing in mid-air, I hand cut a little branch for it out of corrugated cardboard and misted it in shades of Suede and Coffee Shop.

So there are my Tattered Angels and Graphic 45 projects this month. I just realized they all have a woodsy feel to them.   To check out what the Graphic 45 Design Team has created with Tattered Angels products, hop on over to their blog:  Graphic 45 Blog . And check back here for what the other Tattered Angels DTs have created with Graphic 45 papers throughout the month. Have a great day!
