Victorian Christmas Glimmer Kit

Hi you all!

Today it’s my turn to show you some work. I had the pleasure to work with the amazing Victorian Christmas Glimmer kit ( http://mytatteredangels.com/product_info.php?products_id=1338 ) this month. It’s packed full of wonderful stuff.

I created a mini album about our summer holiday. Even with the Graphic 45 Christmas Past collection I could create such an album which has nothing to do with Christmas. The back of the papers are very useful for other subjects.  I used the Frame screen a lot as you can see. Love the way you can create such a fun frame on your page.

Well enjoy and thanks for looking!

Our Trip to Hershey

I recently had the chance to work with our new Home for the Holidays kit.  It comes with the gate fold album, Olive Vine, Cramel Apple and Brick glimmer mists, a regal Glimmer Screen and a box of Embossed Frosty Memories glimmer chips, among other things.

I decided that I wanted to create an album about our trip to Hershey Park last Christmas Season. I took the gate off of the album, layed on the screen and sprayed it with Olive Vine and Brick. Once it was dried, I highlighted the design with gold Stickles.

2

I punched two holes in the front of the album and created a closure with the ribbon. I added a wreath that was made with the greenery and added a glittered glimmer chip to the center, along with a tag with the album title.

3

Here’s a look at the inside of the album:

4

What I love about the Tattered Angels albums is that they come with so many pages. I figured out how many I needed and removed the rest.  The extras became tags that framed my photos. Each double page spread had two facing tags. This was the main design of my pages.

5

I painted the Glimmer Chips and added glitter to them. I also punched snowflakes from extra pages that I misted. I liked the negative look of the paper, so I used it here.

6

I also added gold glitter to the center of all of the snowflakes.

7

On this two page spread, I misted the Glimmer Screen and stamped with it.

8

9

And these are the last two pages.

That’s it! I had a lot of fun making this one. Be sure to check out the kits at the Tattered Angels site.  They’re 25% off!

Thanks for stopping by! ~Anabelle

Introducing our NEW Angel…

heidi_nameYES! As some of you smart crafters have guessed, Heidi Swapp has joined our Tattered Angels family. Heidi will offer Tattered Angels fans her fresh style to crafting as well as some great new tools for your Glimmer Misting experience.

heidi_600x600Here is what Heidi has to say about her new line called “Exclusively Heidi by Tattered Angels” That will be featured at this Winters CHA 2010.

“Heidi Swapp is inspired by fun and funky, often unexpected sources…and most the time it happens on a sub-concious level by what she sees all around. Her eye is trained to see trends in fashion and home decor and gravitates to the bold and versatile looks. As a mother to 3 boys and 2 girls, she loves to mix and match looks that can be altered to embellish lots of different circumstances.

Imagine combining images that are found printed on t-shirts, boards and bags in some of the most ‘out there’ skateboard and snowboard shops with icons found on wall hangings, throw pillows and plates in the most high-end, super chic home decor and gift boutiques… Heidi has taken all of this and incorporated it into an inspiring line of edgy products that invited her creativity to play, and could help her tell all of her stories–better than she could herself. This is what Heidi Swapp was hoping for with this line that will be available by Tattered Angels.

let them help you tell your stories too!”

And as promised, here is the first sneak peak of our Winter CHA 2010 release, Heidi’s favorites… Glimmer Mist colors designed by Heidi Swapp.

Viva Pink- A Vivid Pink with a beautiful Golden black Glimmer

Silver Sugar- A soft silvery grey with an opalescent silver glimmer

Black Magic- A soft black with a golden glimmer

Electric Blue- A vibrant turquoise blue with a golden glimmer

So, have you been wondering as to our little riddles? Here are the answers to our creative sneak peaks

Day one: was a picture of Heidi’s new logo that was hidden by a bunch of puzzle pieces, and today the last piece was lifted to reveal her new logo, if you kept track on our website’s main page than you may have noticed it as we revealed each piece.

Day two: was this riddle-

Here is another hint as to our new Angel….

I had a smile on my face

as I whipped

up a new batch of Glimmer Mist

It is as plain as the nose on your face…

This riddle was as easy as the nose on your face if you enjoy anagrams… Since the nose on your face is in the middle, this refers to the middle of the phrase given, which is “as I whipped”  if you take the letters in this phrase and re-arrange them it spells out Heidi Swapp.

as I whipped= Heidi Swapp

Day Three: This was a bit of an easier one (to make up for day two!) and if you had been following Heidi’s blog than you would have heard that she recently created a new custom color of Glimmer Mist called Silver Sugar.

Sparkles like Silver and Gold

and is Sweet like Sugar!

These two words (which I tried to line up) make up one of the names of Heidi’s new Glimmer Mist colors.

Day four: Now This one goes back to the word play, this was a lexigram of Heidi’s first name. The clue was:

The ID is the key, to what you seek!

If you look at the words The ID is you will see Heidi’s name hidden in the text.

I hope that you found these little brain teasers fun!

explore album

Hi everyone, this is Gaëlle from France :)

Today I’m going to show you a mini album I made with the Nature Chip Tile Kit. A gorgeous kit, wit green, red and brown mist colors, that was perfect for my photos of a family trip we made for Christmas 2008.

I made the covers and pages with the embossed tiles. I colored the first cover with the Mustard Seed Glimmer Mist. I also used the leaf mask with the Burnt Red Glimmer Mist, and the Suede Mist on the tag. I cut the word “Explore” in a bingo card for the title. Than I sticked the ribon and a Glimmer Glass, and wrote a few words.

For all the album, I printed and resized my 5 photos at the size of the tiles. Then for every double page, you have a photo with embellishments included in the kit, and an embossed tile colored with the mists and decorated.

Do not hesitate to stack elements…

To color the tiles, you can use the Glimmer Glasses as some masks, as I did here with the butterflies :

I wanted to keep an embossed side for the last cover, so the last double page doesn’t have any embossed part, that’s why I covered one page with the beautifull  green printed paper :

Then the last cover, colored with the Mustard Seed, and Burnt Red + Glimmer Glass :

Have great holidays and take care !

Joy Album

Hello everybody, as you know this month the Design Team was asked to work with some of the Glimmer kits … I received the Victorian Christmas kit and it was so much fun to do!

Joy album 1

I first covered most of the inside pages using one of the glimmer screens and the  wheatfields glimmer mist, I let the pages  dry and covered them with pieces of patterned paper and old sheet music.

Joy album 7

For the cover I just tied a piece of twill tape, Gingham ribbon and a piece of twine cord with the metal key included in the kit,  then I secured the ribbon with small brads.

Joy album 10

Next I covered some chipboard letters  in forest green and some frames with wheatfields,  once they were dry I sprinkled some glitter and I added to the pages of the albumJoy album 2

Joy album 3

I embellished the album with buttons and tulle and some ribbon and metal that came with the kit

Joy album 11

Joy album 6

Joy album 4

One thing I love  of  the Tattered Angels albums is that they have lots of internal pages so you can add lots of photos, details, embellishments,  Journaling etc!

Joy album 5

Hope you like this album, Have a great day :)

Beatriz Jennings.

joyful, joyful…

Merry Christmas friends.  Recently I was sent the Victorian Christmas Glimmer Kit to work with and today I get to show you what became of this beautiful kit…there is so much to love about the embellishments, papers, colors, and even the shape of the album that is all put together for ease and convenience…..so, let’s get started.  I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite techniques with you as we go along…jj8

My goal with this kit was to create a winter-y, sparkly feel…something perfectly suited to it’s Victorian theme.  The first thing I did to begin to take it down it’s glimmer-y path was to paint the transparent cover with cream acrylic paint.  I let the paint dry just a bit and wiped a bit of it away and towards the outer edges leaving a distressed and aged look there.  Next was to coat the cover with spray adhesive and lightly sprinkle on Mica Flakes followed by Wheatfields Glimmer Mist.

jj2

I then took my Glimmer Screen and coated it with spray adhesive, flocking powder, more spray adhesive, and then topped it with Mica Flakes.  A simple misting of Forest Green and Wheatfields Glimmer Mist turned it into an icy, clear focal point to place in the center of my cover.jj6

I added patterned paper to the center of the Glimmer Screen to make a nice base for my chipboard letters and then started piling them on along with some embellishments included in the kit followed by a vintage label and holly leaves and berries I had here at home.

I dressed up the spiral binding on the album by tying a double bow from the gingham and red tulle included in the kit along with tying strips of torn fabric, attaching a rusty old jingle bell, and stringing on a vintage tag from my stash.

jj4

Now on we go to the inside of the album.  I love grouping and clumping embellishments especially when you have a large surface to work with.  It kind of draws you in and gives you a focal point, not to mention it also allows for empty space where you can attach a photo or include your journaling. jj11

Each of my inner pages is misted with a bit of the Forest Green Glimmer Mist…I love the splotches it leaves behind….so beautiful.  jj12

Another fun technique I love to use over and over again is stamping…use your stamps….let them enhance and compliment the feel of your design.  They fill in gaps and add character.

jj13

A fun way to make your supplies stretch is to cut or punch shapes from your patterned paper.  I kept a consistent shape going throughout my album…stars for Christmas…and attached them to the chipboard pieces using safety pins included in the kit with a bit of cording.

jj14jj15

One more of my favorite things to incorporate is that of adding vintage touches such as images, postcards, tags, stickers, etc….if you have old greeting cards lying around, this is the perfect time to use them….you’ll love them even more when you include them in a keepsake such as this.  It’s great place to highlight them and store them for the future.jj1I have many pages to go here on my Joy Album, but now that I have my supplies gathered and my ideas drawn out…it will be a snap.jj18

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Enjoy your holidays!

Snow is glistening…

We finally had snow on Saturday, it was a welcome site as it came down so gently! The girls ran out there in all their gear to enjoy it that afternoon, they’ve been wondering when it would arrive. Me, I’m not quite as fond of the snow and cold…it’s beautiful, but only if I don’t have to go out in it. I’m much more of a warm weather person!

This month I was able to work with the Frosty Glimmer Kit. All of the chipboard pieces, snowflakes, brads, hinges, mists, sayings, blue paper, stencil and album came in the kit!

First, I misted the entire book with the Denim Blue Glimmer Mist. It’s so sparkly in person! The book comes in a creme color, so I changed all of the pages to blue. After adding the sheet music and saying on the cover, I laid the snowflake screen down onto my book cover. I mixed up some dimensional paint and used an old credit card to smooth it on over the stencil, then lifted the stencil off and let it dry. This gives you a negative print of the snowflake. I added a little bit of white paint over the top of the dimensional paint when it was dry (so it would show up better and have more contrast against the blue) and added some Diamond Dust glitter to make the snowflake shine. (Click on photos to see them up close.)
On the inside pages, I just chose some photos taken last Feb. of my girls playing in the snow. I misted the some of the sayings with the Creme De Chocolat Mist from the kit and punched the paper from the kit into circles.
On this page, I used the dimensional paint technique again, then added my photo over the top…
These 2 pages were misted with the Denim Blue over the snowflake stencil. I can’t get enough of this snowflake! LOVE it! I added white paint to the silver snowflake brad and tied twine around the little hinge that came in the kit. Also did some stitching on the tag and added blue mist to the edges of the tag.
This page has a piece of vintage sheet music (the title from the sheet music page). I found this image on-line, cut the title off and tied 2 pieces of twine on before adhering it to the page. The girls were beginning to make snow angels when I took this photo. I punched some of the sheet music into circles and sprayed it with the Creme de Chocolat Mist.
I have only begun this album, but am loving how it’s turning out. It has so many pages inside, that I could add a ton of pictures. Love that! I hope my girls will cherish this when they get older.

Thanks for stopping by,

Danielle
