Family Mini Album

Happy New Year Everyone!

So, all month you’ve been seeing the DT team post their fabulous creations using glimmer kits. I’ve been so inspired by all of the different ways the team has been using these kits!  I got to work with the Regal Chip Tile Kit. When I received the kit and saw that it had the Family Bingo Boards included, I decided to make the mini album for my Mother that has been on my list of things to do for awhile.  Everything I used for the album came from the kit with the exception of the large journaling tags. The kit actually does come with three smaller journaling tags, but I needed five, so I picked some up at an office supply store.  Everything in the kit is so well coordinated; it made making the album so easy!

The image below is of the front and back covers. I sprayed all of the chip tiles with sand glimmer mist (first time I’ve used this color, I love it, one of my new favorites!) It was easy to cut the photo to fit inside the glimmer glass frame. I just placed the glimmer glass on the photo, traced around the inside and then just cut my image a little larger than the line I drew so it would be sure to fit completely under the frame. On the back cover, the patterned paper used behind the journaling card and on the heart actually came from the packaging.

The next two set of images are the interior pages. The concept of the album is “family”. I made a page for myself and each one of my brothers and sisters. Each of our pages includes a couple photos on the front side and a note to my mother written on a journaling tag and inserted into a slot on the back of the page.  The inside front cover has photos of my parents and the inside back cover had a group family photos that was taken last Christmas.

All of the pages were covered with sand glimmer mist. For each of the “kids” pages, I inked the fronts to bring out the details on the glimmer chips (red-pink on the girls and blue on the boys). On the backs I used the included glimmer screen mist to create a swirly pattern. I used Starfish Glimmer Mist on the girls pages and the Patina Glimmer Mist on the boys pages (both of these colors come with the kit).

The next two sets of images show detail views of the album. I accented the pages with all of the goodies that came in the kit: glimmer glass, buttons, tulle and ribbon. The key that comes in the kit is beautiful, I tied it on the binding ring with ribbon and tulle (you can see a photo of that on the first image).

So, that is it for me today. Next month the DT team will be posting projects using Glimmer Albums, so check back often and I’m sure you will be inspired.

Wishing you and your family a happy and safe new year!   Patty

A Daily Glimmer Kit Album

Oh I so loved working with this treasure box “Home for the Holiday”-Kit. This box includes everything you wish for to create an album – three different colored Glimmer Mists, Winterthemed Embossed Chips, Embellishments and gorgeous papers. I decided to create a Journal for December since I knew I was going to travel to a winter wedding in Vermont and on top December is itself a pretty eventful month.

Here is the cover:

DecDaily_01

As you can see I used the Glimmer Mist on the cover pages and then sanded them lightly to highlight the embossed tree. I painted the fence with blue acrylic paint from the back. I did the same with the photocorners and then used a black Journaling Pen to trace the embossed areas.

DecDaily_01_A

I had prepared all of the pages in advance – sprayed them with the Glimmer Screen and the other Chip tiles, cut up the papers and tags to create a background. For the days I had printed out numbers, some of those I had glued on top of the smaller chip tiles.

DecDaily_02

DecDaily_03

DecDaily_04I also used the packaging -here the little window in the Frosty Chip Package to create a small shadowbox for this page.

DecDaily_05Sometimes I wrote some remarks on the chipboard tiles itself.

DecDaily_06this is the back of the banderole which was around the kit parcel – see …everything can be used.

DecDaily_08Of course this album totally fits a January themed album too – and for whatever purpose you will use it…it creates fun while working with it and will give you joy for a long time whenever you reach out and look at your finished album!

Wishing you all a wonderful and happy new year 2010!

Happy Holidays

Hello from Mandy in Australia who was lucky enough to play with the Home for the Holidays kit.

home for holiday album mandy collins

Just perfect for this time of year when families and friends are travelling to spend time together for the Holidays. Glimmer Mists in Olive Vine, Brick and Carmel Apple, a Mini Album complete with a front gate and so much too choose from for all kinds of fun.

The tree embossed on the front cover was a sweet highlight. First misting with Carmel Apple and sealing with a light coat of dimensional magic really set off the branches when finishing the background in Brick Glimmer Mist.

Finding all the colours of the trims matched perfectly is a real bonus when I can be a matchy matchy kind of girl.  There are lots of pages in these mini books and I used some of them to create trims and accents, cutting out letters to spell out the story and finished the page outlining stencils.

The kit colours worked really well together enough to create opal style finishes with blended colours.  First misting with the lighter base colour and building up layers of the two accents, just yummy!

The paper trims provided lots of pretty journaling blocks to write messages perfect for the season of joining friends and family from all over to celebrate together.

Merry Christmas to all!

We just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season. We hope that you find yourself in the company of friends and family and create wonderful memories to last the years. Thank you for an amazing and exciting season!

A Victorian Christmas

Hello It’s Jamie , here to show you another way to use this great Victorian Christmas Kit.  This kit offers so many elements and beautiful colors. I have made a mini album of my children at Christmas.  I will show you a couple highlights of the album.

Photo1059This album can be used on it’s side or any direction you like. Using stickles on the Tattered Angels Chipboard letters make them stand out.

Photo1060I used the overlay from the cover and made a fun little page on the North pole.  Cutting one of the included tags to create the arrow. The colors included in this kit are; Wheatfields, Arctic Blue, And Forest Green. They blend so well together. Spraying over clear glitter glass with the tattered angels gives a rich effect. On the banner I used a page from the album cut to shape and sprayed and hand painted the shadows.

Photo1068

On this next page I used the mask as a stamp.  And then saturated the page with Wheatfields.  It gives a washed out watercolor affect. I then outlined some of the stamped shapes.

My Glimmer Kit

Hello!  After a day of no internet access, I’m finally here.  I may be brief because I’ve already tried one other time and lost everything.  I’m not sure if it’s the snow storms that we are having here or what, but it can stop anytime!

My kit to use this month was the Nature Chip Tile Glimmer Kit.  There are warm Glimmer Mists colors and pretty green and bronze accents in the kit.

I made a Chip Tile wall decor piece.  The tiles are connected together with wire and sprayed with all of the Glimmer Mist colors included in the kit.  First I used the Mustard Seed color, then laid on the leaf Glimmer Screen and sprayed over it with the Burnt Red mist.  I spray my edges with Suede and then I like to drag the edges through the excess mist that is on my mat to highlight them. When the  tles were dry I sanded them,  then used a plastic cover that comes on the bottle of mist and also the bottom of a bottle to stamp circle images onto the tiles.

Copy of IMG_5839 The Cocoa Glimmer Glass wings and bird were sparkled up a bit on the edges with an ultra fine glitter.  The mirror glass piece was covered entirely with the glitter and I love how the detail on the piece still show through.

I also glittered up the Glimmer Screen and cut it in half and layered it over the masked area then layered on a couple of Glimmer Glass leaves from the kit.

Christmas projects galore

Ti’s the Season!  It’s been so fun just working away on Christmas projects that past few weeks.  Before we know it it will be here.  I love altering, so all my projects this month were things I had on hand and had been wanting to alter.  Below is a altered project I did  using a square tin.       (The tin piece is about 1/2 inch deep).  I used Graphic 45 Christmas papers for these first two projects.  I found that “Brick” and “Forest Green” Glimmer mist colors worked really well with these papers.  The aged look was done by using “Old Lace” Glimmer mist.  A also used “Iridescent Gold” Glimmer Mist as an over all topcoat when I was finished.  I loved finishing off a project with the Embossed Chipboard Corners from Tattered Angels.   I double layered my papers , by cutting and adding foam squares between the layers for dimension.    I also added “flower flock” and glitter to the tree and to Santa’s beard.

Christmas tin hanging

I had alot of fun layering , spraying, cutting and folding on this project for sure!

Christmas tin side view

The project below done with the same papers and colors.. and using one of the screens from the “Iron Works” screen set.

Christmas box and album sized

I’m going to be using this little box album set for a gift.. so my sis will be able to add her own photos.

I have also been working on my  Christmas Album kit from Tattered Angels.

Vintage Christmas kit album

One of the other things I wanted to share with you was something new I tried.  I had seen a number of cute and inexpensive poly-resin things at different craft and hobby stores ,and always wondered what Glimmer Mist would look like on them.   Well… the Christmas things have now been on sale 1/2 off, so it really tempted me to get some and give it a whirl.      I love the outcome.  It does repell the Glimmer Mist slightly.. so I found that putting it on in lighter, multipul layers, got the best results.  I love the outcome!  I decided I wanted to set mine on my cake plate..so I made a “doilie” looking piece to go underneath.

Christmas tree on cake plate

Okay… one more thing.  Liz had a tutorial posted HERE showing how to make gift tags that is so fun!

I made a number of them … that hopefully they will be able to use for ornaments next year.

I used vintage photos from Crafty Secrets in place of photos for mine.

Thanks for letting me share my Christmas Crafting.

Sharing some Tattered Angels Holiday goodness:)

Ahhhhhhhhhh…. so nice to be back! Not that I really left but now  I can officially say how happy and honoured I am to have been invited by Tattered Angels to be one of the Golden Ambassadors! I guess that means I am officially a Glimmer Mist Addict and I am totally okay with that! Not only do I get to continue to share some Tattered Angels Goodness with my students as an Educator, I get to rejoin this uber talented team and share some more goodness with you here too…WOW! What a thrill!

So without further adieu, here we go!!!

With the holidays fast approaching I thought I would share some quick tags that you can create using your favourite Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, screens, stamps, Glimmer Chips and brand new Calling Cards.

I know that the free minutes between now and the big day are virtually non existent but I am hoping you can find at least a couple to try your hand at these quick and simple tags.

IMG_0127

This first one was done by first stamping the fleurish stamp randomly over a regular tag. Spray with Olive Vine and Peppermint Stick Glimmer Mists and blot off excess. Apply a die cut felt tree (this one is by Prima) and embellish with self adhesive rhinestones. Tie some ribbon through the tag hole and cover knot with a large decorative crystal and VOILA! A very quick and simple tag is finished:)

IMG_0144

Tag #2 was also stamped but sprayed with Caramel Apple Glimmer Mist. Attach a torn strip of paper (Graphic 45) and staple on some decorative trim and twine. Glimmer Mist and ink a pocket watch, secure a seasonal image to the backside and glue to front of the tag. Age some lace with! Glimmer Mist and attach that to the watch as well. And guess what… you are finished

IMG_0158

Tag 3: Glimmer Mist the tag using Glimmer Screens as well so you can provide a bit of a contrast and pattern to the background. Spray and embossed Glimmer Chip (small oval frame from Regal collection). Secure vintage image to backside and attach to the front f the tag. Attach cut out images and quote, embellish with misted lace and again… you are FINISHED!

Those were easy, eh? Now onto a couple more that although involved a few more minutes, the end result is pretty superb!

IMG_0164

This particular tag is a giant tag (about 4″X8″) so I had more room to play with. I stamped and sprayed the background and the crumpled the tag and dipped it in the remaining Glimmer Mist on my mat so it collected in the crevices. I also stamped and sprayed a mini file folder (7 gypsies)  and sprayed my Glimmer Alphas. Once they were dry, I added some ink and secured them over a decorative paper trim.

IMG_0170

I have always loved the large embossed fleurish in the Regal Collection but this time I wanted a more defined pattern with the embossing so I ren it through the cuttlebug on a whim and look close and you will see the definition. I LOVED it! I added a bit of ink to further define the new embossed pattern and secured it to my tag with mini pop dots. I layers the file folder with a mini Calling Card and lovely fabric flower that was lightly misted too. I added some distressed lace and velvet ribbon and now can call this one finished too!

IMG_0111

The final tag for you today involves another giant tag that was stamped and misted. I layered various Graphic 45 papers and even cut the Santa image in the frame from a sheet of paper too.

IMG_0118

I cut many of the postage stamp images and layered them with the medium sized calling card. I finished it off with the “Merry Christmas” that was cut out from a patterned paper too. The entire piece was “wiped” with Glimmer Mist to further distress the tag.

So there you have it, 5 tags… just for YOU! Be sure to take some time this holiday season and make some time for you:) Take lots of photos, and remember the reason for the season. Don’t fret over the small things and cherish every single moment with you family! OH! And don’t forget to get all of your favourite goodies on your wish list for Santa before it is too late!

Happy Holidays!
