serene summer…

I have so many favorite Tattered Angels products…I think it’s due mainly to the versatility and ability to create any type of mood or feeling by adding color of my own choosing.  Today I wanted to create something shabby and calming….colors of the sea and the shore….and had so much fun making this project for you.

Beach5 This was created with Tattered Angels Creme de Rouge Nature Glimmer Chip, an image from the Beach Bingo Board collection, and Glimmer Mist in Sea Glass, Tea Rose, and Tuscan Sun.  I also used paper from the Baby 2 Bride collection from Graphic 45, always such a perfect fit with Tattered Angels products.  Beach3

I hope you’ve enjoyed some summer sun, perhaps a bit of time at the beach, and most importantly, a little time for yourself.

Freestanding “Nature Chip Tiles” Project

I thought I’d share with you , this simple project I did , using the  new Nature Chip Tiles.  It was so easy and fun to put together.  After spraying my tiles with Glimmer Mist to achieve the look I desired, I attached them together with ribbon.  I used a couple of the embossed Chipboard corners to hold my photo in place and the word “us” from the Alpha Chips. I added copper colored glitter to the chipboard butterfly before attaching it. Added the Prima flower and the ribbon.

I actually used this family photo from this family’s Christmas Card.. and it worked perfectly.  These would make simple , fun gifts for friends.. made with the photos from their Christmas cards.  I know I’ll be making more.

I hope you get a chance to give it a try!

sharing a smile…

This week I get to share a few projects I’ve created using some of my favorite Tattered Angels products.  One of my favorites  happens to be the Regal Alpha Framed Fonts because of the wide variety of things that can be done with the frames.

smile6

I love framing different types of mediums such as felt, fabric, paper, and in this case distressed cardboard.  It’s a fun way to add dimension and interest while highlighting the area beautifully.

smile4

I used my new favorite color of Glimmer Mist to coat the frame along with a light dusting of glitter.  Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist is shabby and soft and goes perfectly with the Baby 2 Bride collection from Graphic 45.

Along with framing in cardboard, I embellished the center of the frame with a Prima chipboard button, and a few antique white buttons.  A simple sentiment in the corner is all that was needed to complete this sweet, little card.

Enjoy your week.

New Nature Chip Tiles are Irresistible!

For one of my samples for the CHA show next week in Orlando I made a small banner using three Nature Chip Tiles.

The Nature Chip Tiles come in a set of six, each 4″ x 7″ white chipboard with lovely embossed designs.

Typically embossed designs such as these are embellished with ink to give them contrast compared to the application of Glimmer Mist.  But this time, I decided to try something different and make the designs somewhat ’resist’ the application of Glimmer Mist and retain their original color.

The typical way to accomplish this would be to apply embossing ink and clear powder — but getting the ink to hit ONLY the raised areas on such an intricate design takes a lot of work PLUS I didn’t want the resisted area to have a shiny appearance.  I could have possibly sanded off the embossing when I was all done, or attempted some type of absorbtive batik — but what a lot of steps to achieve the look!!  So I went to the old crayon box and grabbed a white crayon to achieve the result I am looking for.

Taking the flat end of the crayon, I applied the white wax to the embossed designs by dragging the flat surface in small circles over the designs.  This application is not perfect, but it achieves the desired effect quickly and inexpensively.

Once the Glimmer Mist is applied to the framed font piece, you can see the resist in progress.

See how wonderful that is?  Easy, and shows off the intricate designs in a different light.   Look at the delicate beadwork around the edge and the small delicate dragonfly that has resisted the ink based on the crayon application.

Now you can create contrast using stamps, such as this gorgeous *new* large dragonfly, applied with a plum chalk ink.  I also applied the plum chalk ink over the top of the Framed Font that was first sprayed with Glimmer Mist and dried.

Look at this great *new* stamp set!  It coordinates with the Dragonfly Glimmer Screen too.

Supplies used:

  • Glimmer Mist in Pashmina (purple), Frozen Lake (blue) and Candlelight (yellow)
  • Nature Chip Tiles
  • Framed Fonts, Regal
  • Framed Fonts, Nature
  • White trim
  • Misting Mat

Another idea is to stamp your image and create subtle highlights using the white crayon (pointy end this time!) before you apply the Glimmer Mist to your project.

I hope you give these techniques a try.  And make sure to look on the main website for the new product catalog.  I’ve got to get back to finishing samples before I get on that plane….  LOL!

“Bloom” layout

We are all having so much fun with these new products!   It’s hard to stop playing. lol    On this layout I used one  of the new Chip Tiles as a decorative journaling piece… and one of the new LARGE.. and ohhhh so fun..New Glimmer Screens for my background design, behind my photo.

bloom-layout

The new large screens are AMAZING!  You cant see as much of the gorgeous design on this layout, because it’s just showing around the edged of the photo..but keep watching.. you’ll be seeing alot more of them , used on projects posted here on the Blog.

CHA is going to be an exciting time for Tattered Angels with all these fantastic new products being released.   You can feel the excitment in the air!!

New Butterfly stamp

Woo Hoo!  I have always been a butterfly lover so this stamp has me just GIDDY!   It’s such a beautiful stamp anyway.. and when it’s stamped over the matching butterfly Glimmer Screen… Oooooh la la!   I’m in heaven!

I offset my stamp from the screen print just slightly ..because I love that look .. but you can easily place it right on top of your misted butterfly image.  You can use the negative or the positive of the misted butterfly.. either effect is gorgeous.

in-flight-layout

The “In flight” is also a part of this stamp .. as well as the swirls behind the butterfly. I love that they are  able to be used separatly. I used the swirls around the edges  of my saying also.

Stamped with a lighter color , they would easily make beautiful background paper.  ( See how my mind wanders?) lol

Oh..the possibilities!
