Ballerina Box

ballet-box-1

I love how Glimmer Mist works on wood-just incredible, immediate results! This was a simple wooden box that I sprayed with a combination of Sea Glass, Riptide and Patina Glimmer Mist. The Glimmer Mist colors the wood very quickly, but doesn’t dry right away, so there is still time for blending the colors. I covered the top in that super cute Girl Friday paper line from Cosmo Cricket. That is also Cosmo Cricket’s coordinating ribbon that is wrapped around the lid. The Glimmer Chip “stage” is actually the frame from the Regal Framed Fonts package. Love how versatile and generous those are! The Chip was painted with a bit of Patina, then trimmed with Stickles. Here’s a close up of it:

The ballerina herself is from a vintage baby mobile.  I trimmed her in ribbons, glitter and  tulle, and topped off her umbrella with a Prima flower. Perfect little candy or gift box. If you haven’t tried Glimmer Mist on wood, give it a try-you’re gonna love it!

Have a great week,

Tattered Angels and Cosmo Cricket Blog Relay…

Hey Everyone! It’s me Liz Hicks here to share some Tattered Angels goodness topped off with some yummy Cosmo Cricket.  I was so excited when Tattered Angels decided to team up with Cosmo Cricket this month. I am so in love with their Snorkel Line and what bettter way to showcase just how fun these two manufacturers work together than in a fun Beach Layout?

This layout is of my second son walking on the beach and although it is a beach themed layout, it really reflects on who he is and how he has developed into such a wonderful boy. He use to despise going to the beach (or any other body of water for that matter) so to see him engage and enjoy the water was such a treat.

SON Rise close up of SUN

sun rays

This is a close up of the sun rays. I was inspired by a telelvision ad that circulated last year. It was for a car company and it feature a car driving through the tunnels of LA and as the car drove through the tunnel became this whimsical sun. This is my interpretation of that whimsical sun, it is similar to the turn of the century silent movie such as “A Trip to the Moon” which showcases a surreal style of filming. I also snuck in some Glimmer Screen stamping that peeks out from behind the layers of the sun. I used the Vintage Ice Glimmer Screens for this.

SON Rise Close up of Title

Here is a close up pic of the title. Again going with the whimsical surreal feel of a turn of the silent movie, I tried to mimic the layers of a silent film stage. This is one of my favorite forms of art. I love the layered victorian feel of turn of the century movies.

And here is the full view of the layout. I added some bolt lace, and cut up ortions of the Cosmo ribbon to add depth. also the backgroudn was created by using the Glimmer Glass snowflakes from the Glimmer Glass Frosty Memories album as a screen and then misted over with Turquoise blue Glimmer Mist (this created the clouds) . I applied Sand and Old Lace Glimmer Mist to the bottom portion. On the flourish chip, I misted it with a concentrated mist of Turqouise Blue and dried it with my heat tool to create a vivid color. The title chips are the Regal Framed Font Alphabets that I misted in Peach Delight and in Meadow Green. I thought these colors complimented the colors of the Cosmo paper nicely.

We thanks for checking this out, hope you have a great day!

Memorial Day Gratitude…

celebrate4Happy Memorial Day everyone.  It’s such a wonderfull time to reflect upon the lives of those who have gone before us….for their love, examples, sacrifices, and influence.  We have so much to be thankful for.

For this first card, I used some traditionally patriotic colors….deep reds, creams, and shades of blue.  I coated the Embossed Regal Fleur de Leis Glimmer Chip with Glimmer Mist in Moonlight and then distressed the edges with sand paper and ink.

For this fun tag, I used non-traditional colors to create a little something to express my gratitude.  I love the color combination of deep red, cream, yellow, and turquoise.  freedom2I coated the Embossed Regal Fleur de Leis Glimmer Chip with Glimmer Mist in Scarlet and Latte to create the deep red color.  Then topped it off with a dusting of white glitter and one more misting of Scarlet Glimmer Mist.

I hope you are each enjoying a wonderful holiday weekend and a special thank you to our soldiers and loved ones fighting for our freedom.

Summer Fun Tattered Angels and Cosmo Cricket Style…

Cosmo Cricket and tattered Angels teaming up for a great blog relay

I am elated I was able to work with this adorable summer line Snorkel from Cosmo Cricket. The colors were so bright vibrant and went perfect with the summer colors from Tattered angels. The background paper was created using white bazzill and coloring it with riptide and lime twist. I used tattered leather for all my distressing and the embossed regal chips were colored using the cherry blossom. Summer is in the air and this cute lo shows a special bond between my son and his little girlfriend at the aquarium.

IMG_1374-1 I will be posting my classes for Scrapbook Expo in Orlando by tonight. Make sure to sign up  they are sure to be a hit and sell out fast.

I hope you have a Scrappy Day

Summer’s Coming!

Designed by Cheryl McAdam

Designed by Cheryl McAdam

It has been so hot lately, it feels like summer is here already.  The new beach themed bingo and calling cards were the inspiration for this summer layout.  I used the glimmer screens from the Master set.  I also used the Regal Framed Fonts for the title.  For the wave image on the left of the page I used the large swirl screen and sprayed over it with Turquoise and Riptide Glimmer Mist.  I cut out a circle of white cardstock and sprayed it with Peach Delight Glimmer Mist and then used the small swirl screen and stamped on the sun image using Tiger Lily Glimmer Mist.  For the sun rays I used another screen from the Master set, and stamped with it using Peach Delight Glimmer Mist.  I ran out of A’s for the title Aquarium, so I cut around the negative image of a framed font, then sprayed it with Riptide Glimmer Mist.  Then I cut strips of cardstock that I sprayed and ripped from the edge of the circle mat on the layout.  I placed them in a striped pattern on white cardstock, then layed the adhesive side of the “A” over the strips and cut it out.  For the word “long” I used Peach Delight and Pink Bubblegum Glimmer Mist.  The new bingo boards and calling cards are so easy to work with and versatile.  There are so many things you can do with them, just play!

Flights of Fancy card

purple-bird6

On this card, I used both Patina and Sweet Pea Glimmer Mist. I created a bit of a shadow effect by first placing the Flights of Fancy Glimmer Screen on the patterned paper, and spraying with Patina. Using the same Screen, I wiped it off and then sprayed with Sweet Pea, then “stamped” the image onto a piece of white cardstock. Once dry, I lightly sprayed Patina across the top, then cut the bird out. I added some feathers to the back of the tail for extra interest and detailed with Stickles. I then used dimensional adhesive dots and positioned the bird over it’s ” shadow.” I backed the whole cardfront onto pink cardstock. This card is a bit larger measuring 6×6.

Happy Misting!

Tattered Angels home from San Diego…

Well some of us are! Wendy and the gang are on their way over to Michigan to Join Vicki Chrisman at the Detroit Mega Meet! If you are in the area definately check out Vicki’s classes they are to DIE for and I believe there might be a few spots left.

We had an oh so fun time in San Diego this past weekend, now some of you might think us crazy being that the Pandemical “Swine Flu” was just a few miles south of us, but no worries…we came prepared.

We were fighting Swine, one wipe at a time! LOL!

We had the pleasure of teaching a few classes while we were there, and the students were absolutely amazing to work with! So fun and ready to play with Glimmer Mist.

Scrapbook Expo- 2009

Although we did have a class crasher, I don’t believe I ever saw him pay… LOL Kyle decided to join in on the fun during our second class.

Beach Bingo Board Decor

Our booth was hopping from start to finish, we did an amazing FREE make and take featuring the brand new Bingo Board and Calling Card sets, as well as screens, stamps, Glimmer Chips, Glimmer Glass and of course, Glimmer Mist!

Views from the Demo table

As you can see my hands were nice and misted by end of day. I love how a little bit of Wheatfields Glimmer Mist makes my hands look radioactive.

A handful of misty goodness

Here is a shot of  Wendy demoing, you can see how I couldn’t even get the full crowd of spectators in the picture, yup Tattered Angels tends to draw a crowd!

So after a fun few days we decided to spend some time relaxing…feet in the sand and soaking up the sun

Tattered Angels, Cosmo Cricket Blog Relay

cosmo-and-tattered-project-002-640x480cosmo-and-tattered-project-006-640x480cosmo-and-tattered-project-004-640x480Today is the  first day of the blog relay with Cosmo Cricket!  For my project I used the Cosmo Cricket lacing cards combined with the Ever After line of papers and embellishments.  I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Chips – Regal Embossed, and Glimmer Mist in Spanish Moss and Oriental Poppy.  For the center two panels of the lacing cards I simply sprayed them with the Glimmer Mist.  Glimmer Mist on chiboard is absolutely gorgeous.  It is hard to see in the pictures how “glimmery” it is, but it is dazzling in person.  Try it!  The other designers who will be posting projects today are:

Trisha Ladouceur
