I used some more pretty, pretty things from Prima including paper from their Sew Cute collection…it looks like canvas and has stitching already on it….so fun.  The flowers are also from Prima and have been coated in Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels in Rose Tea and Coffee Shop.  The chipboard piece is also from Tattered Angels and has been distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger and coated with Mica Flakes.  beauty3

Enjoy a beautiful day today!

a beautiful pair

Isn’t is wonderful to see how beautifully products from different manufacturers work together?  Tattered Angels and Prima Marketing Inc. seem to be a perfect match.  I had so much fun working with these products.

I created another Mother’s Day card for my project today.  It seems like flowers, trim, and all things sparkly, remind me of my special mom.

motherknows14motherknows10motherknows4

This card was FUN to make.  I used Prima’s Screen Printed Cardboard Paper here, distressed it a bit and shabbied it up.  The flowers are also from Prima and were coated in Blue Skies and Antique Brass Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.  The sweet chipboard owl is from Tattered Angels Creme de Chocolat collection and coated with Antique Brass Glimmer Sprayand a bit of white glitter.  The trim along the bottom edge is also from Prima…and I just *heart* it…isn’t it sweet?

Enjoy your day!

Mother’s Day Canvas

Mothers Day Canvas 2009

Mothers Day Canvas 2009

Here is a canvas that I have made for my Mom for Mother’s Day. I originally planned for this to be used for the Tattered Angels/Crafty Secrets Mix up, but never finished it, so here it is this month, and appropriate for our blog relay this month, featuring a little Prima.
layered title using FDL and stickled Glimmer Glass

layered title using FDL and stickled Glimmer Glass

For the title I added a little Fleur De Lis (I probrably totally butchered the spelling!) underneath the title to add depth. I also stickled the back side of the Glimmer Glass to give it a really cool glittery look. The outer edge of the canvas is inked and stickled, and the entire canvas is misted with Old Lace, this looks AWESOME on canvas!!!

Here is another picture of stickled Glimmer Glass, aswell as some Ephemera Glimmer Chips in Creme de Chocolate (nature). I also entertwined some flowers into the butterfly, gotta love butterflies and flowers!
Using Glimmer Screens with art stucco

Using Glimmer Screens with art stucco

Now this is my absolute favorite part of the canvas, I used a technique I learned from Sally Lynn Macdonald. On one of her projects for CHA she used Modeling paste and the Glimmer screens to create a smokin’ winter canvas set. I loved it so much, that I have used the same technique with art stucco (I am TOTALLY addicted to this stuff!). The texture is the only difference, art stucco is just as described, a stucco form that has a crystalized granual in it. Although it took forever and a month to dry (seriously probrably like an hour or so) I still love it! I inked with black. Stazon, misted with my good friend Old Lace and topped it off with distress stickles (one of the browns, I forget which). Together they created a beautifully uneven surface that is to DIE FOR!

Well I hope this has inspired some creativity!

Thanks!

A layout fit for a Princess!

Fairy Tale Princess -Liz Hicks

So for this layout I used some pictures of my daughter running down the hallway (It never fails, my kids see me and the camera coming, and they RUN!) She was dressed in her princess best, and I just love how even though the pictures are of her running, they just remind me of Cinderella running home from the ball.  The background paper is a Prima paintable reversed so that I had a blank 12×12 watercolor canvas to work with. I used the small flourish glimmer screen in the top left hand corner and layered reds and pinks to create a color blended background. I also misted Prima’s Voila felt and used it as a stamp on the right side so that it could add an underlayer to the physical voila. The outer frame is a Prima stitched Mulberry page that I gutted the center out of and sprayed with old lace glimmer mist. I also used glimmer mist to curl up the edges of the paper to give the mulberry paper a “Tattered” look! I love how the layout resembles a walk (or run, for that matter!) through a thicket, just like a true Cinderella story!

clock pieces made into a flower

clock pieces made into a flowerIn this picture you can see that I created an under layer of petals using the tops of the pocket watch framed font alphabets. I just cut them off, misted them and arranged them to cradle my Prima flowers. I am seriously addicted to depth in my pages, so this totally hits the spot for me! I also layered Creme de Rouge regal ephemera chipboard flourish with Creme de chocolate regal glimmer glass flourish and Prima Say it in Crystal swirls. Again, totally entertwining them for a layered effect. I also added a cute little crown to my daughters head, this is a regal embossed piece of chipboard that is misted with mustard seed and I added some prima say it in crystals that I cut up to give it a little bling!

glimmer mist on glittered paper

This gives another example of the clock top flower. aswell as some random stitching I did on my picture frames for texture. Another really cool trick is to use Glimmer Mist on flocked or glittered paper, this will accentuate the raised part of the paper and color the actual paper portion of your page. I used Prima’s new glittered paper with various colors of glimmer mist to achieve various colored glittered papers.

title using pocket watch framed font alphas

title using pocket watch framed font alphas

This is a close up of the title. I used the pocket watch framed alpha fonts and Prima’s whipser words flocked ivory letters dyed with Glimmer Mist. I LOVE how the pocket watch alphas are beautifully embossed, and how appropriate the clock face is for my sweet Cinderella! I also dyed some Prima raw lace with glimmer mist.

Thanks for peeking!

An Artists hands features my beautiful daughter Malia creating a masterpiece. This little angel at 2 created the apron she wears to paint in and this has become her favorite pastime.

Prima Products used: the printed chipboard, flowers, Say it in crystals, lace, paintables, and chipboard alphabet.

Tattered Angels products used: Ornate frame and large flourish screens, regal chipboard, butterfly alphabet, and glimmer mist color; lime twist, cherry limeade, riptide, snow angel and dreamsicle.

I started by using the black lace as a border around the outer part of the large frame in the center of the page. The paper I chose was the backside of a paintable. I used the dreamsicle and cherry limeade with the large flourish screen and the just cherry limeade with the frame. I than cut the frame out, including the center area, and placed my picture behind the frame. I used the other pieces to create the tag and the mat. I sprayed one butterfly and the mirror with the cherry limeade and the other butterfly with the lime twist and riptide. The flowers were all white the large one was colored using the riptide. The small ones were colored using the CL and the riptide. I used the butterflies to emphasize the 2 main points her hands and her age. I also cut around the pictures and to add a layer of depth. The whole chipboard was covered in the snow angel to make it shimmer.

I hope you have a great day and do something fun and creative get inky and play.

Hugs

Michelle

A match made in heaven!

Prima and Tattered Angles have gone hand in hand in my heart since I girst discovered Glimmer Mist when needing that perfect finishing touch on a Prima Paintable many moons ago. Seeing as we have paired up  this month, I thought I would share one of my Tattered Angels and Prima projects here too!img_0018-3Although I have posted a more recent project on my blog, I want to show you how much fun the Glimmer Mist can be when used on the Prima Paintables. This is a technique I teach regularly in my classes and people are constantly amazied at just how easy it is!

Next time you want to play, break out a few of your bottles of Glimmer Mist and a Prima Paintable.  Grab a paintbrush to dip into the bottles and go to town! It is like a colouring book for adults. I guranteee you that you will love getting lost in the process!!!

Do not forget to give your favourite flowers a spritz or 2 of Glimmer Mist as well as any ribbons or trims you want to add a bit of Glimmer to.

For another canvas project that I completed this week be sure to check out my blog at www.trishaladouceur.blogspot.com

If you are in Ontario canada this weekend for Scrapfest in Kitchner and want to get all misty with me, be sure to sign up for the Tattered Angels Class I am teaching on Friday night. You will have the oppotunity to play with a lovely assortment of Tattered Angels goodies while learning the techniques necessary to ensure success each and everytime!

I look forward to seening you there:)

Glimmer and sparkle for mom…

Happy Spring everyone!  Melissa here today, ready to share a fun, shabby, spring-y Mother’s Day card with you.  I’ve been thinking a lot about my mom lately and the mothers and grandmothers that I have had the opportunity of knowing and loving.  It’s so special to sit and think about these sweet women while I create something just for them.

mother14

I love exploring the possibilities associated with Glimmer Screens, and so today I tried using one on some fabric.  I ended up loving the results.  It created a very defined image, but at the same time came with a softness that spraying on  fabric adds.  I used a Glimmer Screen from the Blossoms collection and chose Starfish as my Glimmer Mist color.  After it dried, I pinked the edges of the fabric to fit the front of the card and stitched it in place using my sewing machine.  mother18

To top if off, I added a Glimmer Chip from the Embossed Regal Collection.  To create this accent,  I inked the chip heavily using Ranger Distress Ink, then coated it lightly with Lily White Doodlebug Glitter.  I matted it on old sheet music and then layered on my sentiment.  The sweet vintage image is from Crafty Secrets new Creative Scraps collection.

This was such a fun card to create.  I hope you’ll give one of these techniques a try…or try something of your own.  You just never know where your creativity will take you.

Thanks for visiting.

Yep, another box

100_1100-640x480If you haven’t noticed, I have a real thing for boxes.  Love them.  All shapes, all sizes

.  This particular box I found at the Melissa Frances booth at the Costa Mesa Expo.  I knew immediately what I would use it for.  In addition to boxes I also have a passion for bling.  Sequins, glitter, rhinestones, Glimmer Mist in every color, you name it.  If it sparkles I must have it. Well, the bling was out of control.  It was literally spilling out of baskets, and drawers, so I knew this box would be my new bling home.  I used Creme de Rouge, Creme de Chocolate, and Old Lace Glimmer mist to color the box.  I also used the Creme de Rouge glimmer glass on the lid, and Glimmer Screens from the Large starter set of screens.
The rhinestones over the drawers are from Prima.  I layed the say it in crystals piece over the drawers, then cut them apart where the drawers open.  It holds all of my “flat” bling perfectly.

Guest Designers for Scraptivity

Lauren and I were invited to be guest designers for the month of April on the Scraptivity site.  What fun!  We received a delicious package of goodies, including of course, Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Glass, and Glimmer chips along with some awesome new products from Heidi Swapp and Pink Paislee.  The invisibles paper is a great mix with the glimmer mist because it comes totally white and has embossed areas on the paper.  When you spray it with glimmer mist, the paper changes color, but the embossed areas stay white.  Love this!  Check out what Lauren and I made at the Scraptivity site here.   We also received adorable stamps from Scraptivity that are so versatile and cute.

Glimmer of Ideas Journal

Did you ever get excited about office supplies as a child?  I remember a couple of weekends where my Dad had to work at the office and I went along with him.  Oh, the joys of the typewriter!

I see that same sparkle of excitement from my young children when my husband comes home from a business trip with a notebook or journal in hand from his business meetings.  The pages where notes were taken were carefully removed beforehand – and placed into their hands a blank canvas for ideas to be written down.

Truth be told, I get just as excited about those blank canvases.  And on a recent trip he came home armed with one for me as well.  LOL!  Ahhhh, white chipboard covers and lined notebook pages.  What could be better.  I’m easilly pleased, I guess!

So I set about to decorate this journal with all these thoughts running through my head.

Overview

Overview

The quotation seemed apropos, “the world is a wonderful place when you’re young.‘ – e.b. white

First, I selected the colors I wanted to work with.  I’m a big fan of pink, personally.  Brown goes nicely with that of course.  And perhaps some blue and green.  So I chose:

  • Sweet Pea
  • Frost
  • Olive Vine

And I always work with some metallics, to upgrade the look of the elements I’m working with.  I chose:

  • Dew Drop
  • Graphite

I printed out my sentiment on vellum paper using a laser printer.  Then I sprayed Dew Drop lightly over the top – voila!  I had shimmering, pearlized vellum!

a very vellum improvement

Next, I worked on my title letters.  I chose the Regal Alphabet Framed Fonts.  These are initially a light cream color.  I pressed them onto the misting mat, lightly sprayed with Sweet Pea Glimmer Mist.  This placed the color on the raised, embossed areas of the letters.  I also dipped a makeup wedge into the leftover mist and colored the edges of the letters.  Once this was dry, I sprayed them with several light coats of Graphite Glimmer Mist.  I love the end result.  They look like tooled metal letters – and it took no time at all to achieve this look!

Now with all that gorgeous Graphite laying around on the misting mat, I decided to dip the edges of my book, and decorative papers in – for an added richness to these elements as well.

Graphite Edging on corners

And at the same time, after I stamped and heat embossed an image in brown embossing powder I took a waterbrush and painted inside the image with my Glimmer Mist colors.  I edged it in Graphite and once dry, sprayed over the entire piece with Dew Drop.

I sprayed a couple of white Festive Flowers from Prima with my Glimmer Mist colors and embellished the center with a Glimmer Chip fleur de lis in Regal, Creme de Rouge.  I also placed a photo corner from this set at the top right.

And finally, a few birds from the Glimmer Glass, Nature – Cocoa set came to nest on the cover as well as felt and satin ribbon, a few punched leaves, which were highlighted with their coordinating Glimmer Mist for ‘veins’ and a twig from outside my front door.

So now that my journal is done, I intend to take it on the road with me – to jot down little glimmering ideas and see what they turn into.  I hope you’ll join me in making a project that will help rekindle the simple joys that we so often forget  while we go about our everyday lives.   Thank you for reading.
