Glimmer Mist on Glass

Little-book-cover

A few weeks ago I was sitting around just looking for something quick to make.

It did not have a purpose, it was not for anyone or anything in particular, it was just because…

I was sitting around and thinking what could I do really quick to get the Mojo flowing.

Well, I had some extra frosted slides that I had done for CHA-S and they were just calling me.

What were they saying you ask???  They were saying make me into a book. Make me a mini book.

So I get on the phone with my friend Cat Confer from Chicago and she says go for it and see if you can do it in under 30 minutes.

Open-front-of-books30 MINUTES!!!!

I decided to rise to the challenge. With the gauntlet thrown. I was off and running.

So I made these and I really liked them. I posted them to a Y! group I belong to and completely forgot to post them here. They are simple and fun.

So here is the how to of these little gems.

Stamp an image on the frosted side of glass. Sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat. Spray Glimmer Mist and heat onto frosted side.

Accordion fold paper to fit inside of book. Don’t forget to add ribbon so that it can close.

Wonderland Album

Winter wonderland, I have no idea what this means. I live in Florida so I had to look at pictures of what the winter wonderland looks like. I have to say I am jealous. I have never made a snowman or had a snowball fight so I hope you like Frosty. I sprayed the wood album with coffee shop, iridescent gold, and black gold. The snow flakes were sprayed than outlined in stickles than sanded and sprayed with silver bells glimmer mist.

The glimmer chips were sprayed with pearl and crystal stickles added to the peaks.

I created the glimmer glass lamp by spraying cardstock with tiger lily adhered the lantern over the top added a glimmer chip snowflake sprayed with Patina a few rhinstones and stickles for his nose.

I love to add a little something vintage to my work so I try to use vintage lace or crafty secrets vintage diecut sayings.

Have a scrappy Day

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Layout

Here’s a fun halloween page that is super quick and easy!  I used the winter trees glimmer screens for the top border.  I sponged on black ink from a inkpad refill bottle right onto the screens then layed them over my paper which was sprayed with tiger lily gm.  Then I brayered over the screen and lifted them off.   The photo mats are patterned paper sprayed with black gold gm.  The envelope and black flower were also sprayed with black gold.  The glimmer chip frame and orange flower were sprayed with tiger lily gm.  The edges were lightly sprayed with black gold also.  Sorry about the bad photos, my scanner is giving me issues

Recycled Glimmer Chips Box

The boxes for the Glimmer Chips are so beautiful, who could throw it away?  I sprayed the box with irridescent gold gm, the flowers with Tiger Lily, Cinnamon gm, the butterfly glimmer chip with Oriental Poppy, and the looking glass glimmer chip with Antique brass.  All you have to do is decorate the box, then adhere the photo to the inside of the piece of the box that pulls out, add some ribbon to hang, and you have yourself a frame!

Halloween Chandelier-Colorado Style

So, here in the Tattered Angels parking lot, we see MANY tumbleweeds. It just so happened that one rolled to the front door, and inspiration struck! We pulled it inside, and Glimmer Misted it! We layered it with Golden Terracotta, Black Gold and a bit of Rum Raisin. As tumbleweeds are VERY dry, we did have to apply a few layers.  To complete our Halloween decoration, we took images from Crafty Secrets, framed them with our Glimmer Chips and created Halloween ornaments. Just goes to show you, that inspiration is truly everywhere! You’ll never look at a tumbleweed the same again!

Green is not just a color

This layout was done as one of three for an exclusive workshop at Scrapbooking Up North in Alexandria, Minnesota.

OK, just let me digress and give you some background, the skinny, the who, what, where, when, how I found myself with the desire to scrapbook these particular photos.

And I must say did you notice that they are not my normal black and white. So they really must have been special.

My parents take my children on a mandatory bonding excursion each year. It is a time where they get to have the kids without me and my husband.

My daughter is the only one who has had the pleasure of the cruise because the twins just refused to potty train when they purchased the tickets for this cruise.

And my Dad made it clear that he “was not changing and diapers on this vacation. Maybe next time.”

When they came back, there were so many great photos and I wanted to do something to say thanks as a parent and leave them with something to remember this very special time together.

And when the layout was done, I realized that I needed to have my Dad do the journaling of the trip as a short letter to Chi-Chi in his voice and in his handwriting.

OK, so now for the how to’s of the layout…

I taught techniques using acrylic paint and glimmer mist.

This was a really FUN class!! Grunge can be beautiful. Recycling is not just for the trash.

After painting corrugated paper with white acrylic paint (Ranger Industries), I sprayed the painted surface with Twilight, Pearl, Iridescent Gold and Coral Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels).

Next I added a few pieces of patterned paper (Prima Marketing, Inc) with distressed edges, staples and ink. With everything in place, I added a bit more acrylic paint and sprayed additional Pearl and Iridescent Gold Glimmer Mist.

The flowers are made from white paper (Prima, Bucket of Blooms) and sprayed glimmer mist. Then with my heat gun I dried the flowers.

As I was drying the flowers, I realized that my heat gun started to “burn” the flowers and turn them a brown color. This was not a mistake, it was just an opportunity to embellish and the result was a more vibrant and richer color.

For the upper right corner, I used a the swirl Glimmer Glass (Tattered Angels) with Platinum Stickles (Ranger Industries).

A few shells in the centers of the flowers, a few additional embellishments and there you have it!

Owl Card

I had such a great time making this card! First, because its my Dad’s birthday card (Happy Birthday Dad!), and he really likes owls,  and second, because I was able to use so many Tattered Angels products! The entire card was inspired by the beautiful old postage stamps I found.  Drawing from those colors, I used Mustard Seed, Patina and Vanilla Breeze, and two of the Tree Glimmer Screens. I then used the owl chip from the Creme de Chocolat Nature set, and Glimmer Misted that also with Mustard Seed and Patina. I had the most fun however, working with the Nature Glimmer Glass! Using my heat tool, I heated the glass pieces for just a few seconds until it softened and became pliable. Then, I was able to curl the leaves and shape them as I liked. I had a couple seconds to do this, which really is plenty of time, before the plastic hardened again. You can see a close up of the leaves here:

Glimmer Misted Layouts

These layouts are by the very talented Nathalie Kalbach, one of our Educators located in Germany. On these examples, you can see how Glimmer Mist is used to create background paper, on chipboard, and even on a dry baby wipe! You can see more of Nathalie, and her uses of her “beloved Glimmer Mist” at her site www.scrapbook-trends.com and Somerset magazines where she is frequently published.

Frosty Memories Album

This album has a surprising ingredient:  Salt!  Pour salt over the cover or page, then spray with Glimmer Mist.  Dry with a heat tool.  When dry, brush off the salt and your page looks like snow is falling!
