Running out of Glimmer Mist! Isn’t it a scary thought?

Today I have a couple of projects to share with you, one of ‘witch’ was a display at CHA Summer last year, but I don’t recall posting online. So hopefully it is new to BOO. Ok, I’ll stop doing the Halloween schtick now…

First, this Halloween themed mini-album, using the Garden book. I love the swinging glimmer glass gates and how through the application of color the album can take on any theme.

And I wanted to show you how you can mix up alphabets, even when you are missing a letter (or two). The style of the alphabet frames lends itself to really getting the most out of every piece. In my case, I had two ‘problems’. I didn’t have a ‘w’. but I quickly found that I could flip an ‘m’ upside down and get what I wanted. Also, I didn’t have the insides of an ‘a’. But look how great the inner frame works as a tombstone in my garden ‘graveyard’! Lastly, I cut the letters for RIP from the Bingo board calling card set for Halloween that said ‘PUMPKIN CARVING’. All the letters I needed were there.

I placed a piece of cardstock over the letters to cover half of them. Then I sprayed Apple Glimmer Mist on the top half. I let that dry for about 30 seconds and then moved the paper to cover the top portion of the letters. Then I sprayed Pomegranate Glimmer Mist on the lower half of the letters. Finally, to give it a spookier look, I added a light overall spray of Black Magic Glimmer Mist over the entire title and rubbed some chalk ink on top of them.

For the tombstone, I rubbed a bit of ink across the embossed design on the alphabet frame and then sprayed it with Granite Glimmer Mist.

The calling card ’sign’ is sprayed with Sugar Maple Glimmer Mist, with the edges dragged through the leftover spray on my misting mat for contrast.

My next project was on display at Summer CHA last year, in Orlando. I loved the owl from the Graceful Journey stamp set. It immediately reminded me of Hedwig from the Harry Potter book series. So I made a hybrid scrapbook page using images I found online as a background.

The Platform 9 3/4 image is a purchased ’stock image’ that I purchased. I printed out my background image on an Epson R1800 printer. I have found this ink to hold up to Glimmer Misting and general inking. Yes, it does NOT make the ink run. Don’t have it swimming in ink, mind you – but a typical application doesn’t degrade the image in the slightest. I have posted about this before on my blog, if you would like to see another hybrid layout.

I added alphabet frames and a stamped owl. I stamped the owl in brown Brilliance ink on a piece of vellum and sprayed that back liberally with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist to accentuate that white color of the vellum and add a magical sparkle. I even made some ’spectacles’ on the background image using the pocketwatch alphabet frames. A handmade broom embellishment was painted with Sugar Maple Glimmer Mist. I used a calling card from the coordinating Bingo Board set as a journaling spot.

I hope you enjoyed these two projects I have shared with you. And if you’ve read this far… you are in for a treat! Besides listing the winner from Wednesday’s post – I will be adding another drawing as well.

The winner from Wednesday’s post is:

And a little bit of Rock’n Roll

Yep – I’m in a good mood- I mean it is summer …so how could I not Even with lot’s of work and projects Summer seems for me the time to refuel and get a lot of inspiration for the next few months. All the sunny days and even nights outside, the parties and time with family and friends, the things you see traveling, bicycling or just doing something outside…it is the way to refuel before the days get shorter and and the time in the studio finally gets longer And don’t get me wrong…looking forward to those days too.

BUT….still managed to create some things with the always inspiring products by Tattered Angels – it’s doesn’t matter what time of the year it is – a little bit of this and a little bit of that…and there you have it…Rockn’ Roll – LOL

Fairy Land Tag

I love the Tailored Tags – so many possiblities to use them for fun projects, like book marks, gift tags, pages for mini albums – or just for a fun tag as I did here, using different Glimmer Mist Colors.

Another Project I did was this Punky Sprouts Album using lot’s of Tattered Angel’s Products like Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Glam, Glimmer Chalkboard, Glimmer Glass , Clear Stamps, Glimmer Glaze,Glimmer Screens, Glimmer Chips etc. Combined with the wonderful Graphic 45 Papers it came out as a nice Beach Album …ehem …Down the Shore Album- for my NJ Sis in Law

For the clear pages I used some of the Beachthemed Tattered Chiptiles and Glimmer Glass and sprinkled some Glimmer Glam right onto the pages.

The Canvas pages were created this way: I sprayed the Canvas with a solid color that I wanted to look through the later used screens. Then I placed the Glimmer Screens onto the Canvas pages and then sprayed with different Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Chalkboard Colors – kind of working them together. Before lifting up the Screens I tapped the excess liquid off with a paper towel. Some of the images that I used the screens with are also later on stamped over to highlight the image even more.

oh yummie Glimmer Glam!!!

I really had an aweful lot of fun to create this album!

Wanna see more- LOL – I have more- here is an altered Shadow Frame I made for our upcoming anniversary and I used the beautiful beautiful new Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Fall Colors!!!! I love them soooo much!

And here is how the shadow frame looked after I had my Glimmer Hands on it

Here are the Supplies I used:

Tattered Angels: Glimmer Mist Fall 2010 Colors, Glimmer Glam Chandelier, Glimmer Screens, Tattered Trinket, Rockn’ Renaissance Costum Cut Outs, Tattered Traveler Clear Compact, Framed Fonts; SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES by 3L™ Foam Pads and Crafty Power Tape, Clear Gesso, Pepples, Prism white Cardstock

But wait….there is more…LOL – one more…ok? What about a layout to close this post?

*The Many Faces of Israel*

It remains my favorite to create my own backgrounds with teh wonderful Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists and with those cool Tattered Textures Stamps – not to forget the fun Framed Fonts that makes awesome frames for the pocket pictures I used.

So I hope those projects and layouts showed you how versatile the Tattered Angels Products are!

Halloween is a FAVORITE holiday of mine. Part dress-up, part make-believe, a little bit scary – and CANDY (let’s just cut to the chase – CHOCOLATE).

So it was my delight to FINALLY decorate this paper mache house, that I found ages ago at the delightful store, Absolutely Everything, in Topsfield, Massachusetts. I found a little lighting kit from a store that sells those snow village pieces, and I’m going to place it in the back and light this up for Halloween. Let’s get to decorating!

This material is slightly more absorbant than cardstock; so the application dries quicker than usual. What is fun, is that you can apply the first layer – in this case Pomegranate to the center of the ‘wall’ and then I added some ‘mold’ in the form of green Apple to the bottom of the structure. I turned the house upside down and let the ‘mold’ drip upwards a bit. This is the highly non-technical ‘drippage’ method. But to make it sound unattainable, simply call it ‘drip-ahhdge’. LOL. You’re going to try it now, right?

And finally, I added a coat of Sugar Maple over the top of the wall to give it a golden glow. It’s like adding a warming filter to a photograph. It always looks a little better with some warmth from Sugar Maple.

Let everybody dry naturally. Resist the urge to do any toweling and put away the heat tool. It will be worth the wait.

See what I mean?

And now I need to embellish my house. I sprayed the chimney first, with Pomegranate. Then I masked it off (holding a piece of paper or packaging to protect it from overspray), as I applied Black Magic Glimmer Mist to the entire roof. Get underneath the eaves and get it all soaked good. Once again, ‘drippage’ makes wonderful shingles as it dries naturally.

Then I played with the roof a bit, to add some cobwebs in the form of the wonderful screen prints stamp set. First, I stamped the cobweb with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist. Let it dry completely. Then overstamp (slightly offset is fine!) with Ranger’s Archival Black ink pad (or anything waterproof). Just don’t go all Stazon on me. This isn’t the right surface for that ink, and you really want the image to pop against the white background image. I added more cobwebs to the flat side of the roof and along the back of the house.

I added shutters, in the form of the postage stamp alphabet frames, cut up and colored with Apple and Sugar Maple. I added these to the front of the house only. This is a weird New England-ism; houses with shutters only have them on the windows facing the street. This bugs me just about as much as sweaters that are only knitted prettily on the front — don’t you want to look good from all sides? But I digress…

Inside the windows, I added crepe ribbon curtains, sprayed with a bit of Granite Glimmer Mist and some broken windows in the form of torn mica pieces.

I painted the Glimmer Glass piece for my ‘haunted hotel’ with a bit of Orange Crush Glimmer Glaze under the words and Chandelier Glimmer Glam underneath the picture for contrast against the backdrop of the house.

I screened the branchless tree with Granite Glimmer Mist, and then flipped it over and sprayed it with Sugar Maple and Apple Glimmer Mist, which I then ’stamped’ in the negative space. Once it was dry, I stamped the coordinating Screen Prints stamp with waterproof black ink.

I used this same Orange Crush Glimmer Glaze to paint in the pumpkin on this bit of calling card I used for a decoration along the front edge. Unlike paint, the glaze upon first application is translucent, so the printed design isn’t hidden from view. The glaze will also resist the Glimmer Mist that I applied afterwards to tint the vines and leaves as well as the background. It freezes the color of that part of the design in place so it doesn’t get muddled in further application. So always apply it first to freeze a color in place.

So that is my haunted post for the day. Hopefully it gets you in a mood for the Fall palette of Glimmer Mist colors (and cooler temperatures at least here in Connecticut).

If you like Halloween – perhaps this prize drawing will interest you? How about we put together a drawing for the Vintage Season Halloween Hauntings Screen Prints stamp set and its coordinating Glimmer Screens.

Happy CHA everyone!
Mandy popping in from Australia to say Hello and share a couple of my newest creations.

Starting off with a card full of sunshine and smiles, misted with pretty Lemon Zest, Crushed Shells and SWAK and accented with a little Tuttu Pink Glam, a bright and cheerful combination.

Love layering mist colors across each other to see how they blend.

Lots of folks altered clocks a while back and that was fun but recently I saw a personalized clock in a fancy boutique with a very fancy price tag to match, thought hmmm, I have seen that lighthouse and very similar sandcastle and quickly ran home to whip one up.
Glimmer chips are perfect for altered clocks, they are slim enough to fit but with the addition of some bright colors can really make a statement. The only clock I could find had a black plastic frame that really did not look beachy enough. The frame got a rustic make over with a little plain acrylic paint and just before the paint set, misted spots with denim blue and dragged it though for a weathered look.

Altered books are a favorite of mine and a good excuse to play with new color combinations from the summer range starting with water slide and hula hoop on the background.
The tailored tag was misted with crushed shells and tutti fruitti with a touch of tutu pink glaze on the mistable die cut and finished with squirt of old lace.

Experimented with stamping using a dragon fly mist mat and hay ride glam to create a raised shadow that I stamped into. I added more textures using the hula hoop mist to color up texture paste streaked onto the bottom of the page with a little fan brush for grass.

Sharing new creations with you makes my day, feel free to ask questions or for more details.

I wanted to scrap about my son Quentin this month. I love the rich, bold colors of Tattered Angels mists. and they are so versatile. They can be used on super girlie, soft, boyish, or fun pages. So many options.

I created the circles with “Cowboy” Glimmer Glaze. And the background is sprayed with “Juniper” and “Peacock” Chalkboard mist. The skull tag and chipboard are part of Heidi Swapp’s Line I sprayed them with “Red Velvet” and “Peacock”.

The next Lo I used some of the Tattered Traveler Glimmer Glass. And Heidi Swapp Chipboard. The colors on the background are “Crushed Shells” and “Harvest Orange”. I used “Saffron” Glimmer Glaze as a resist with The Tattered Traveler glimmer screens. I love how the resist turned out!

And my last project is a wall hanging. A bright cheery piece to remind me to take the time to relax. I sprayed the silver dollars with “Peacock” chalkboard and “Crushed Shells” Glimmer Mist. The Seaside Chipboard shell is sprayed with “Coral Reef” and then inked on top. I resisted the letters with ” Cowboy” Glimmer Glaze and sprayed with “Peacock” Chalkboard spray. The bingo card was sprayed with “Suede”. I love the contrast of the orange and teal together.

If you believe that statement to be true, then you will love the variety that Tattered Angels can bring to your projects.

This month my projects are not connected in any way and they each have a different “look”. All it took was a little Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and other TA product and you can change up the effect of your work.

My first project is a wedding card. We have 3 weddings this summer so I’ve had wedding on the brain.

I used only 3 different colors of Glimmer Mist (Vintage Pink, Spring Rain, and Iridescent Gold. I laid a Glimmer Screen onto coordinating colored papers first then sprayed the color on.
It’s kind of hard to see the effect in the photos because it is so soft, but that is what I was going for. Almost like it is barely there, but still glimmery and shadow like.
I also used Framed Font piece and the rose is a Mist-a-bles Paper Element.

My next project is a 12×12 layout that I did of one of our 4th of July activities this year.
The Tattered Tag and the background paper was misted with Silver Sugar. Can you believe that a name so sweet could give such a grungy look? After I sprayed on the mist, I used a paper towel to blot off some of the mist lightly so that some defined lines and spots were created. Yet, it is still soft enough to create a dirty look–perfect for pirate photos.

I also used a skull and stars from the Rockin’ Royalty Foil Chips package and a Glimmer Glass piece from the Clear Destination package. One last thing– a little close up of that skull, because it gives this layout the perfect touch.

The skull was saturated with Electric Blue and then topped off with Black Magic which I blotted off so that some of the blue showed through.

This wooden birdhouse was lightly misted with Electric Blue and Key Lime. I added Bingo Boards to the roof which were misted with Key Lime and Coffee Shop. A Tattered Angels “Antique Key” Trinket is hanging on jute string from the roof top.

The Framed Font Butterfly piece was misted with Flower Power, Coffee Shop, and Tiger Lily then a little clear glitter was added for some extra sparkle. The flower was misted with Viva Pink.

Thanks so much for stopping by this month!
Linda

Hi Everyone! It’s me Vicki Chrisman here. I thought today I’d share with you a album I did a while back. I’m usually one to use more muted or vintage colors..but because of the photos I planned to use in this album.. ( of my flowers) I knew I needed some serious COLOR.

As you can see by the cover of my album I chose to use bold bright colors to begin with ..but by using my heat tool and layering color apon color.. I made my colors very intense.

Although I wanted my colors to “blend” somewhat .. I really also wanted some separation of the colors.. and I wanted a blotchy look!~ I created that look by putting my color in a small seleted area and dried it there, using my heat tool. I build from there.. adding more colors.

The album I used was the “Nature Window Album”

Here are a few of the pages from my album.

It’s so fun and easy create different background pages using a variety of screens.

Using the (self adhesive) Framed Fonts , and misting them with the same color of your background page.. coordinating colors in your album.. is a breeze.

I wanted to show you the pages below without photos or anything added to them, so you could see an example of using your screens in two different ways.

I also incoorporated many chipboard pieces. There are so many to choose from. You can see them all HERE

Remember photos of “people” are great….but.. there are lots of things that are filled with color and inspiration. Albums like this are fun to just sit out on an end table for a conversation piece.

Enjoy the process! Vicki

The images used in this little album are from Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage.
