Tattered Paislee Love…

Hi everyone!  I thought the blog was amazing this month – I loved seeing all of the Tattered Angels / Pink Paislee combos!  Before I show you my projects for the month, I wanted to thank all of the wonderful crafters that stopped by the Tattered Angels booth last weekend during GASC in Chantilly, VA.  I had a lot of fun at the demo table and all of you ladies were awesome!  It was also very nice to meet some of the Tattered Angels team – especially Kalie who did time with me in the demo booth, she was super sweet and she picks fabulous color combos.

So…on to my projects. First I have a card made using one of the Tattered Tags: Frames and Flourishes.

 komara_TA june_hello_1_lowres_TA

The little black tag layered with it is from the Pink Paislee Baybeery Cottage Collection.  The foam swirls, glittered chipboard, brad and twill ribbon are also from Pink Paislee. The butterfly is from the Tattered Angels Framed Fonts Nature Collection. I sprayed the foam swirls (artisan elements) with Key Lime Pie GM. The butterfly, flower, and trim were all sprayed with Turquoise Blue GM. The trim and flower were made from the Pink Paislee Pleated Ribbon. I cut slits all along one side of the ribbon, I didn’t cut past the stitching that runs down the middle of the ribbon. Then I rolled the ribbon into a flower (using the same technique you would use to make those rolled paper or ribbon flowers that are very popular right now).

While I was at GASC last weekend I picked up the Spellbinders dies I’ve been wanting (Labels One and Labels Eight). The next two cards use the Labels Eight dies. I love these dies and I think you all are going to be seeing a lot of them!  :)

The card below uses patterned paper and die-cuts from the Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage Collection and the Queen Bee Collection. The chipboard is all Tattered Angels.

komara_TA june_believe_1_lowres_TA

The  frame around the bird is from the Framed Fonts Postage Stamp Set (sprayed with Key Lime Pie, Meadow Green and Forest Green GM). The brackets around the die-cut are pieces cut from the frames that come in the Regal Framed Fonts Set (sprayed with Caribbean Blue and Electric Blue GM). The chipboard photo corner used as the roof is from the Regal Glimmer Chips Set (sprayed with the same colors as the postage frame). The bird is from the Va Va Victorian – Irresistable Chips Set (sprayed with Black Cherry and Cranberry Zing).

komara_TA june_believe_2_lowres_TA

My last card uses patterned paper, die-cuts and large chipboard letters from the Pink Paislee 365 Degrees Collection. The foiled chipboard (wings, crown and stars) is from the Tattered Angels Rockin’ Royalty – Foil Chips Set.

komara_TA june_dream_1_lowres_TA

The wings were sprayed with Key Lime Pie GM. The crown and stars were sprayed with Golden Terracotta and Tiger Lily GM.  The postage stamp frame was sprayed with Scarlet GM.

komara_TA june_dream_2_lowres_TA

Well, that’s it for me today. If you are in the U.S. – I hope you enjoy the upcoming long weekend and have a happy and safe Fourth of July!   Take care – Patty

An eyeglass case and a couple of cards…

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend!  I’m just dropping in to show you my latest Tattered Angels projects. The first project is a eyeglass case. The little wooden case is from the craft store. The flap part of the case absorbed glimmer mist very well, but the rest of the case was a different type of wood and wasn’t absorbing the mist as well and I wasn’t getting the dark brown color I wanted. This situation ended being a perfect example to showcase the difference between Glimmer Mist and Glimmer Glaze. I remembered I had a dark brown Glimmer Glaze (Cowboy), so I applied one coat of the Glaze with a paintbrush to the case. The thicker consistency of the Glaze compared to the Mist worked perfectly and I got the lovely dark brown shimmer I was looking for. Then I just added a few embellishments including the adorable chipboard owl from the Nature Glimmer Chip set.

komara_TA may_glass case_1_lowresTA

komara_TA may_glass case_2_lowresTA

The next project I want to show you is a Happy Birthday card. I used a stencil and Key Lime Pie Glimmer Mist to create the pattern on top of the notebook paper (from My Little Shoebox). The chipboard letter H and butterfly (Tattered Angels Butterfly Framed Fonts Set) were sprayed with Key Lime Pie and Suede Glimmer Mist and inked around the edges with a brown chalk ink.  The original color of the pink letter stickers was not quite dark enough for the card, so I placed the stickers on a sheet of cardstock and then sprayed them with Viva Pink Glimmer Mist. The stickers have a coating on them that prevented the mist from adhering to the face of the stickers but the mist did absorb into the letters in from the back and sides. I think this gave them a nice inked edge look.

komara_TA may_happy bday_2_lowresTA

My last project for today is a Thinking of You card. I layered some patterned paper and scalloped diecut (both are from My Little Shoebox). The large tag (Tattered Tags – Frames and Flourishes) was sprayed with Sand Glimmer Mist. The bird diecut (VaVa Victorian Irresistible Chips) was sprayed with Suede and Water Slide Glimmer Mists. The chipboard frame behind is from the Regal Framed Fonts Collection, it was sprayed with Key Lime Pie and Sweet Clover Glimmer Mists

That’s it for me today, hope you liked these projects. Next month the design team will be integrating some fabulous goodies from Pink Paislee into our Tattered Angels projects. So check back often, it’s going to be a month full of wonderful eye candy and inspiration!

Take care – Patty

Are you ready for the weekend!

Hi everyone – May 1st is National Scrapbooking Day, and Tattered Angels has planned not only one day of excitement, but a FULL MONTH of fun! So check back starting at 10 am when Liz Hicks will kick-off the festivities. Liz has more info on her blog here.

I’m sure you aware from the previous posts this month, the design team worked with Prima. One of the things I got to work with this month was Donna Downy’s canvas apron. This was a lot of fun top alter. I made a little flower garden on mine. I sprayed the apron with green and blue glimmer mists (Meadow Green, Key Lime Pie, Sweet Clover, Olive Vine, Water Slide, and Frost).  Then I stamped the swirls (Fanciful Glimmer Screens) and stems (Donna Downy foam stamp) using manila colored acrylic paint. With double-sided tape, I attached two layers of trim along the top edge of the ruffle. Then I added some felt flowers and embellishments. The felt flowers with the stitching are from Prima, I’ve had them for a little while, I think they are called Loft flowers.

komara_TA april_apron2_lowres_TA

My next project is a miss you card. I made the background pattern by using a Prima felt mattie as a stencil to create the diamond pattern. While the felt mattie was in place, I sprayed the green glimmer mists (Sweet Clover, Meadow Green, Key Lime Pie) and after the felt mattie was removed I sprayed yellow glimmer mist (Lemongrass) over the entire sheet. I stamped a swirl (Regal Classic Accents) using dark red chalk ink. I layered a calling card (Timeless Romance Calling Cards), a postcard glimmer chip (Tattered Traveler Collection), and some flowers that I cut from patterned paper (Prima’s Strawberry Kisses). The gem flower centers are from Prima as well. The photo corner is glimmer chip from the Regal Collection sprayed with dark red glimmer mist (Indian Corn). I added the sentiment with letter rub-ons.

komara_TA april_missyou2_lowres_TA

The last project I have to share with you today is a graduation card. The card background is coated with silver glimmer mist (Silver Sugar). The tag (Tattered Tags – Frames and Flourishes) was sprayed with yellow glimmer mists (Lemongrass and Sunflower). Then I painted some accents on the tag with brown glimmer glaze (Cowboy). Once that was all dry, I added a coat of gold glimmer glam (Golden Goddess) on about half of the tag. I embellished the tag with some chipboard (Rockin’ Royalty Foil Chips), some crystal gems, ribbon, felt (Prima) and lace (Prima).

Fancy this and that…

Hi, Patty here. Wow, I can’t believe March is nearly over! Time is going fast and Easter is early this year, so there’s a lot to get done before this Sunday.  Here is an idea for some quick little Easter Treat packages. A friend of mine gave me a tablet that was full of pre-cut boxes. You just punch them out, fold them up and add a little glue and voila! – You have a little box. They were made by Marcella by K, which I think you can buy at Target.  And there are lots of places on the web where you can get templates for making little boxes. Anyway, after I punched them out, I sprayed them with Vintage Pink, Hula Hoop and Lemongrass GM.  After they were completely dry, I assembled them, and added a few embellishments. The ribbon was white; I sprayed it with the same GM colors that I used on the boxes.

As you’ve seen this month the TA Design Team has been mixing Fancy Pants in with our Tattered Angels products. I received the Little Sprout Collection. Even though it’s a baby themed collection, it’s got versatility and can be used for much more than that.

I used it to make a page about how much my dog Winston loved new toys. I sprayed Sweet Clover and Meadow Green GM on the background papers to add a little more contrast along the edge where the background paper and the other patterned papers meet. I made the circle you see behind the  word ‘toys” by trimming away part of the chipboard frame from the Pocket Watch Framed Fonts Set. I misted it with Oriental Poppy and then added chipboard letters from the Postage Stamps Framed Fonts Set.  The little white dots are liquid appliqué. I love heating that stuff up and watching it expand. :)

For this card, I used my favorite sheet of patterned paper in the collection; it’s is a really great color of red. I sprayed all of the chipboard elements with Lemongrass GM and added liquid appliqué embellishments. The ribbon was white; I sprayed it with Key Lime Pie GM. The chipboard letters are from the Butterfly Framed Fonts Set. I sprayed them Oriental Poppy GM and then coated them with glitter.

For next month, the Design Team will be working with some of the new Prima goodies!  Tattered Angels + Prima = Fabulous!  So check back often!

Take care and thanks for stopping by today!  Patty

Webster’s Pages and Tattered Angels Love…

Well, I’m sure you’ve noticed from all of the blog posts this month that Webster’s Pages and Tattered Angels are a fabulous combo! For my projects this month I made a few cards.

On this first card I used Crushed Shells GM on all of the paper and diecuts. It added a really nice aged shimmery look. I used Old Lace GM on the chipboard leaves (these come in the Glimmer Chips – Creme de Chocolat – Nature Collection - which is on sale now in the store!).  I also used some of the new Glimmer Glam (Golden Goddess) on the butterfly diecut, the butterfly antennae, and all around the edge of the tag. The papers and letter stickers are all from Webster’s Pages. The flower is from Prima.

komara_TA february cards_1_lowres_TA

komara_TA february cards_1a_lowres_TA

On this second card I used Crushed Shells around the edges of the Webster’s Pages patterned paper. I totally love the light brown/tan glimmer mists – they are perfect for adding that vintage touch. I spayed the butterfly with some Old Lace GM and sprayed the paper inside the center of the butterfly with Olive Vine GM. The butterfly is from the Butterfly Frames Fonts Set. I also sprayed the silhouette (from Webster’s Pages) with Pearl GM and then added some Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam.  That lace and flower petals trim is from Prima, found it at my local Michael’s.

On this last card I used Crushed Shells GM around the edges of the patterned paper. Like I said – I totally love this color!  On the butterfly I used a combination of Crushed Shells GM and Frost GM. Once it was dry, I sanded it a bit to reveal the embossed pattern. The buttons are from Jenni Bowlin and the pearls are Mark Richards.

I also wanted to share the projects I made for CHA. The first two cards are made with the new Seaside Collection. It used the new Glimmer Chips (the little crab) and a new Glimmer Screen also in the Seaside Collection. The tan background color is Crushed Shells, the blue circle is a mix of Caribbean Blue and Electric Blue. The crab has a mix of Sunshine and Coral Reef. I used the same colors on the second card.

komara_TA CHA2010_1_lowres_TA

komara_TA CHA2010_2_lowres_TA

These next two cards are a couple of Valentine’s Day Cards using some things from the Timeless Romance Collection. The cards in the frames on each card is from the Timeless Romance Calling Cards Set.  On the first one, I painted it with Glimmer Mist (colors used were – Chocolate Covered Cherries, Red Velvet, SWAK, and Sweet Clover). It’s hard to tell in the photo, but the first is coated with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist which makes the card have a beautiful clean all over glimmer.

On the second card I used Dazzling Diamonds and Silver Sugar on the frame and Chocolate Covered CherriesSWAK, Vintage Pink for the background. The background was made using one of the Timeless Romance Glimmer Screens.

I love the new Postage Stamps Framed Fonts, the little frames are a perfect size for cards.

komara_TA CHA2010_3_lowres_TA

komara_TA CHA2010_4_lowres_TA

Here I made some little ornaments using the frames from the Postage Stamp Framed Fonts. These are double-sided. I just printed two of each of the photos and sandwiched them in between two frames. I layered a lot of colors on these frames (Dazzling Diamonds, Chocolate Covered Cherries, Silver Sugar, and Marshmallow).

komara_TA CHA2010_5_lowres_TA

The last project is a wall hanging made with the new Tattered Traveler Collection and the Postage Stamp Framed Fonts.  I used lots of the new Tattered Traveler Glimmer Chips and Glimmer Screens. The Gimmer Mist colors used were: Hula Hoop, Sweet Clover, Meadow Green, Frozen Lake, Tiger Lily, Golden Terracotta, Crushed Shells, and Chocolate Covered Cherries.

I was thinking it would be cool to add another larger panel below this one where you display photos of your latest journey.

OK – Well that’s it for me today. Next month the design team is teamed up with Fancy Pants!  So, check back often, I predict another fabulous month of projects coming your way!  :)              Take care – Patty

Friends Always Album

Hi everyone! If you were able to attend CHA, hope you have recovered :)  Are you all looking forward to the new products hitting the stores as much as I am!  Especially the TA Glitter Glam, I can’t wait for all of the colors of that to be available! If you haven’t seen it yet, there is a link on the TA website homepage for a 2010 catalogue, where you can see all of the upcoming colors for Glitter Glam as well as all of the other new products coming your way.

For my January project, I worked with the Frosty Glimmer Glass Album. However, I modified a bit to make into a nonseasonal album that I’m giving to friends of mine that are moving to Seattle today. Going to miss them bunches…

The layout of the album is basically a theme per page. I left all the journal cards blank so my friends can write what they want to remember about each of the events documented in the photos. In addition to the photo pages, I included some envelopes that have hand-written notes from me and some of their other friends.

For the backgrounds I used a mix of patterned paper and glimmer misted sheets. The patterned paper is all from My Minds Eye and the glimmer mist colors are Sand, Crushed Shells, Meadow Green, Turquoise Blue, Suede, Twilight, Coffee Shop and Candy Apple Red. The paper in these albums is very nice, it really holds up to a lot of Glimmer Mist application.

I placed all of the photos into frames from the Pocket Watch Framed Font Set and the new Postage Stamp Frames Font Set. I just cut the little knobs off of the pocket watch frames to make them plain circles. I sprayed all of the frames with Dazzling Diamonds and Pearl.

The embellishments are from K &Company’s new Blossomwood Collection, My Minds Eye, Making Memories and Mark Richards. When I was done the book end ed up being so thick I decided to bind it with string instead of putting it back into the orginal wire coil binding.

Well, that’s it for me today, for February the Design Team is working with Webster’s Pages and I’m sure you are going to see more of the new products in use as well, so check back often!  Take care and thanks for stopping by today.  Patty

Family Mini Album

Happy New Year Everyone!

So, all month you’ve been seeing the DT team post their fabulous creations using glimmer kits. I’ve been so inspired by all of the different ways the team has been using these kits!  I got to work with the Regal Chip Tile Kit. When I received the kit and saw that it had the Family Bingo Boards included, I decided to make the mini album for my Mother that has been on my list of things to do for awhile.  Everything I used for the album came from the kit with the exception of the large journaling tags. The kit actually does come with three smaller journaling tags, but I needed five, so I picked some up at an office supply store.  Everything in the kit is so well coordinated; it made making the album so easy!

The image below is of the front and back covers. I sprayed all of the chip tiles with sand glimmer mist (first time I’ve used this color, I love it, one of my new favorites!) It was easy to cut the photo to fit inside the glimmer glass frame. I just placed the glimmer glass on the photo, traced around the inside and then just cut my image a little larger than the line I drew so it would be sure to fit completely under the frame. On the back cover, the patterned paper used behind the journaling card and on the heart actually came from the packaging.

 komara_family mini album_1_lowres_TA

The next two set of images are the interior pages. The concept of the album is “family”. I made a page for myself and each one of my brothers and sisters. Each of our pages includes a couple photos on the front side and a note to my mother written on a journaling tag and inserted into a slot on the back of the page.  The inside front cover has photos of my parents and the inside back cover had a group family photos that was taken last Christmas.

All of the pages were covered with sand glimmer mist. For each of the “kids” pages, I inked the fronts to bring out the details on the glimmer chips (red-pink on the girls and blue on the boys). On the backs I used the included glimmer screen mist to create a swirly pattern. I used Starfish Glimmer Mist on the girls pages and the Patina Glimmer Mist on the boys pages (both of these colors come with the kit).

 komara_family mini album_2_lowres_TA

komara_family mini album_3_lowres_TA

The next two sets of images show detail views of the album. I accented the pages with all of the goodies that came in the kit: glimmer glass, buttons, tulle and ribbon. The key that comes in the kit is beautiful, I tied it on the binding ring with ribbon and tulle (you can see a photo of that on the first image).

 komara_family mini album_4_lowres_TA

So, that is it for me today. Next month the DT team will be posting projects using Glimmer Albums, so check back often and I’m sure you will be inspired.

Wishing you and your family a happy and safe new year!   Patty

Graphic 45 and Tattered Angels Love…

Hi! Patty here with my first post on the Tattered Angels blog and it’s the last post of our month of Graphic 45 collaboration. To be honest when I got the papers in the mail, I thought this would be a challenge because it didn’t look like paper I would normally select to work with; but as it turned out - I really loved these papers!  The colors and patterns work so nicely together and they look great with kraft paper; which is one of my favs!  So, let me show you what I made…

When I saw the Transatlantique Collection, it reminded me of a vintage suitcase covered in stickers from around the world – and then I thought about my own travels and the little foreign coin collection I’ve gathered over the years. So, I thought it would be nice to  alter some type of container to make a home for these coins.  When I went to the craft store I found a tiny balsa wood suitcase – it was perfect!  I removed all of the hardware and then I sprayed the whole thing with glimmer mist. I used Coffee Shop and Graphite on the outside and Sapphire on the interior. I cut out bits and pieces from the Graphic 45 papers and glued them to the outside of the suitcase, then I coated the exterior with Mod Podge.  I reattached all of the hardware and embellished the top with chipboard letters (framed fonts from the Nature and Traveler collections), letter stickers and a coin.  As a little added touch, using large 3-D dots I adhered two chipboard photo corners (from Regal glimmer chips) to the underside of the top. These created a holder for a glimmer chip magnifying glass (from Nature glimmer chips).  I’m still looking for an actual small magnifying glass that I will attach to this glimmer chip so it can be a functional addition to the box.

  komara_coin box_1_lowres_TA

 komara_coin box_2_lowres_TA

Next I made a few cards. The all use papers from Graphic 45 Transatlantique Collection. On the first two I used the Graceful Journey Screen Prints and Glimmer Screens. I love the butterfly in this set, it’s the perfect size for cards.  The brown glimmer mist is Coffee Shop and the green is Forest Green. I added a few simple embellishments: decorative pins, gems and letter stickers.

 komara_butterfly_birthday_1_lowres_TA

 komara_butterfly_thinking_1_lowres_TA

komara_butterfly set_2_lowres_TA

On the next card, I used the butterfly embossed glimmer chip (from the Nature set). I sprayed it with Suede glimmer mist and sanded it to reveal some of the white chipboard.

 komara_congrats_1_lowres_TA

 komara_congrats_2_lowres_TA

On this last card, I used a glimmer screen from the Garden Blossom set. I sprayed it with Meadow Green glimmer mist and used it like a stamp to make a background for the flowers that I puched-out of the patterneded paper. Then I just added a few gems, ribbon and letter stickers.

 komara_hello_1_lowres_TA

 komara_hello_2_lowres_TA

Well, that’s it for me today.  I hope you enjoyed and were inspired by the past month of Graphics 45 and Tattered Angels love.  Next month’s focus is on Glimmer Kits!  These are kits that include a variety of Tattered Angels products – making it easy for you to just open the box and start creating! There are even some inspiration images included with the kits to get you going. So be sure to check back throughout next month and see how much goodness you can get out of Glimmer Kits!

Take care – Patty
