I have two projects to share with you today, one art journaling page and one layout. I used complementary colours for the layout I posted in the beginning of this month – a green background with details in the complementary colour red. This time I went for a green background again, but using a triadic colour scheme and the accent colours orange and purple.
I started this layout by covering the cardstock with gesso. I then used acrylic paint, in three different green colours, and covered my page. When the paint was dry I added Glimmer Mist Glarney and Chalkboard Mist Sprout. Then I added another layer using a stencil from Crafter’s Workshop and gesso. Again I let everything dry and then I added Glimmer Mists Blarney and Olive Vine and Chalkboard Mist Sprout.
I also stamped some circles using Glimmer Glam Private Meadow and an empty toilet roll. For the accents, I misted tissue paper with Glimmer Mist Deep Plum and Candy Corn and Chalkboard Mist Grape Ape. I also coloured the wooden embellishment with Glimmer Glaze Wicked.
Some washi tape, a Cocoa Daisy stamp, the cute wooden girl coloured with mist… The title means “walk and walk”.
Perhaps the stamping on the photo needs some explanation.
It’s Swedish and means “full speed”.
My journaling page started out as a sketch. I’m practicing, learning more for each drawing I make…
I coloured the background using Plain Jane Simply Sheer Aqua. I removed the lid and painted the colour onto my page, using a paintbrush.
I coloured the face using acrylic paint.
I coloured the hair, using Neocolour II crayons and acrylic paint.
I wrote my journaling on the background and then I covered most of it up, using mist and gesso. The first thing I did was using a stencil from Crafter’s Workshop together with the Simply Sheer Aqua mist and Sugar Plum Fairy Glimmer Mist. When the mist was dry I added gesso on top, using another stencil. On top of the dry gesso I added Dragonfly Glimmer Mist, using a paint brush. I also sprayed some Glimmer Mist Graphite on top.
To finish my page I covered the hair with Glimmer Glam Caspian Sea – I LOVE that effect on top of the black paint – and I dripped some Blue Oasis Glimmer Glaze onto the background.
Thank you so much for stopping by the Tattered Angels Inspiration blog today! I hope you enjoyed seeing my process for the art journaling page and the difference between a complementary and a triadic colour scheme, from my September layouts.
Have a lovely day!
Anna
