Complementary colours

Complementary colours are two colours that are found in opposite positions on the colour wheel, such as for example blue-orange, purple-yellow or the colours that I used for my layout: red and green. Complementary colours may be tricky to use in large doses, but they do produce a high contrast and are great if you want something to really stand out.

For my layout I chose the colours green and red and I decided to mostly use green and only add a splash of red. I had the perfect photo giving me both red and green, and I painted some flowers with red Glimmer Glam to go with the red in the photo.

The background was created by applying some gesso, making some marks in the wet gesso and then letting it dry. I then misted the entire background with Glimmer Mist Blarney and added some splatters of Glimmer Glam Organic Garden. The Canvas Fringe from Canvas Corp was coloured with Chalkboard Glimmer Mist Sprout, and for the rose ribbon I used Blarney again. I also painted the thickers with green Glimmer Glaze.

I hope you will enjoy this month of colourful inspiration on the blog!

Have a wonderful day!
