The Inspiration Was Just So Vast…..

December…. End of the year, end of the most amazing journey of my scrappy life so far. I am sad to be leaving but feel so imensely privileged to have been able to work with this amazing team for 14 months. I am sure the 2012 Tattered Angels Design Team will be full of mind-blowing inspiration too (it sort of comes with a love for the products) so be sure to put the Tattered Angels blog on your ‘must read’ list and keep an eye on the happenings by following on Facebook.

I don’t mind admitting that I had trouble with this brief. I spent hours poring over the last year of blog posts. I had trouble because the inspiration was just so vast. There was just soooo much to admire, so many techniques and colour palettes to try. That is why I decided to mix it up a bit….

On the left – Patricia used cork, on the right – Birgit used a mist bottle cap for stamping.

I Pewter Glazed the cork border then poured some out onto my mat and used the base of the Glaze bottle for stamping.

Jamie used Chalkboard Mists on gel medium, I love how it’s textured so….

I painted the whole thing with gel medium before creating a woodgrain texture using a template and some texture paste, then I misted with Decadence Chalkboard and a couple of Glimmer mist brown shades. Again I have painted on cork with Glimmer Glaze (Saffron), and to finish I brayered with a little black paint. Here’s a close-up…

You can see the brush-stroke texture of the gel medium on the base.

Anna’s colour palette of pink, brown, and gold was just so beautiful I had to have a go. I also used a doiley, but as a mask…

A canvas for my husband to remember his mother, missing from our lives for too long now.

Sooooo…… I hope you all had a wonderful festive season and have a bonza New Year. I am in England as this goes live and will be in Paris for the New Year, so exciting! For one last project, inspired by the fabulous Vicki Chrisman, a mini album (with premade journal spots) to take on my travels…

I have embossed all the page edges to strengthen them, and misted all over with three of the new Christmas 2011 colours LED Red, Bubble Light Green, and Twinkle Yellow.

My most heartfelt thanks go out to Nat Kalbach for being an awesome DT co-ordinator, and all the other girls for their constant support and inspiration. This experience has been truly wonderful, and I look forward to welcoming the new team for 2012.
